GirlsOnlyCruiser Posted February 20, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2008 Just checking out my options. We are booking the Destiny for the Jan 8th, 2009 sailing. Need to find out how far the Ft. Lauderdale airport is from the port in Miami. Any ideas?
funship freddy Posted February 20, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2008 Less than 20 miles. I use the shared van service from FLL to the Port of Miami. $18/pp The shared van service is outside the luggage claim area next to the taxi stand. You have short wait while the collect a van load and off you go. Taxi is $70+tip.
JCspartan117 Posted February 20, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2008 less than half an hour I believe... I am flying into FLL as opposed to MIA as it is about $100 cheaper
cruisegal40 Posted February 20, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 20, 2008 Its always taken us 45 min. We used a limo service when there is more than 2-3 people. Much cheaper and more comfortable. But it there are just two, take the airport shuttle
*CruiseFan* Posted February 20, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 20, 2008 We get the Carnival shuttle from FLL airport to the Miami port. It's rougly a half hour to 45 minutes by the time you get off the bus at the port :)
funship freddy Posted February 20, 2008 #6 Share Posted February 20, 2008 Shared van is less $$$ than transfers....and I find it faster. JMO
popsec Posted February 20, 2008 #7 Share Posted February 20, 2008 The only problem is that the "shared ride" vans from the airport don't run from the port back to the airport so you either have to hire a town car limo service or take a taxi....abt $70, either way. funship freddy Posted February 20, 2008 #8 Share Posted February 20, 2008 Not a problem....you can make a reservation for the return trip. I usually use SuperShuttle on the return from Port of Miami to FLL.

This past Monday, I took the "shared ride" (GO Shuttle) from Port of Miami back to Fort Lauderdale airport. When I'd gotten out of the van on embarkation day (Thursday), the van driver gave me a small "sun" sticker to put on my shirt after debarkation in Miami. As I came out of the port and onto the sidewalk, I was approached by someone from GO who pointed me to the correct pick-up location at the end of the sidewalk. $18 each way. serene56 Posted February 20, 2008 #10 Share Posted February 20, 2008 Its an easy trip-- but make sure the savings will be worth it since it will cost a few bucks more for transportation to get there. We saved a total of $700 for 7 of us and used a limo service that cost us each 33.00 round trip. Airfare should come available about 300 days out.. and wont include ALL availabilty-
