I bring 1-qt ZipLoc bags and put my passport, credit cards and money in one, jewelry and stuff in another. When I want something, I just pull out the bag, get what I want and put it back. It's also a great way to separate personal items if there are two in a cabin. Almost every cruise, I find some coins, a pin or an earring left by a previous cruiser. :( The safe uses a 4-digit code that you enter (you decide what code you want to use) every time you close and then open the safe.
