San Diego Debarkation

Recommended Posts

Just Booked Carnival Spirit 11/28/08 - 12/06/08.

As we are flying back to the East Coast(Providence) on the 6th, was wondering what the debarkation process is like in San Diego.

Was looking to book return flight for 11:25 0r 11:45, with 11:25 being the preference to avoid 2+ hour layover on 11:45 flight.

If we are back in port at 7:00am, Will this leave enough time to debark, clear customs etc?

Thanks

We were on the Spirit last month and could have easily made an 11:30 flight. In fact, we were off the ship about 8:30, went to our hotel and checked in then walked to Old Town and took the trolley back to the port around 10:30 to meet some friends that were boarding that day.

There are basically no customs in San Diego. There's a guy standing on the ramp collecting customs forms and that's it. It's frightening.

Tell them at the Information Desk that you have an early flight and they'll give you the appropriate color luggage tags to get off the ship in plenty of time for your flight. The airport is a 5 min. ride from the port.

Yes San Diego is simple and fast........we took our time getting off the Ship and had cleared customs ( the guys do just stand there and collect your forms)and were in the car and on our way by 9:30 the airport is 5 minutes away....you should be at the Airport by 9am no problem...if you tell them you have a flight

We were on Dawn Princess in San Diego in Oct. We were debarking at the same time as one other ship (Celebrity, Spirit left the same day we did, but got back the day after us). We were off and at the airport before 10. We had a flight at around 1, which meant we sat at the airport for quite a while. The airport is like 1.5 miles from the port.

The good thing is San Diego is one of the few airports with free wireless internet. The only problem is, unless you have a long life battery, there are only a few outlets and they are not at the seats. People were sitting on the floor and leanng against the walls so they could plug them in. I just shut mine off when the battery got too low.
