Back to Back San Juan???????

Recommended Posts

If anyone has done a b2b out of San Juan I would appreciate a description of your turn around day. We just finished a b2b out of Galveston and it wasn't very organized....

Any description of your turnaround day would be appreciated.

We would have the same cabin for both legs...........

When did you get your sea pass cards for the second leg? Immigration procedure? Etc.......things like that.

Thanks in advance.

I know if you post that question here to ckRobyn's thread she can answer that for you. ;)

She has done B2B's out of San Juan already on the Adventure. ;)

That is where she "hangs out" now.

Jim, when we did our b2b on Adventurer out of San Juan several years ago.............we had to meet in a specific area on the ship at a designated time, then we were led off in a group, around the back side of the terminal to the front doors of the terminal, into the terminal to a desk that was specifically for folks doing a b2b. Here we received our new SeaPasses and then were allowed to reboard the ship and have our picture taken. Probably took all of 20 minutes.

We did not go through Customs and Immigration because on a b2b you only have to go through at the end of your second cruise. A b2b is considered one cruise.

Hopefully Robyn can tell you what it's like currently.

BTW...............when are you doing a b2b on Adventurer????

Hi Patti

Thanks...........I'll email you sometime this afternoon so look for it. We booked yesterday. April 10 and 17th of 2010....that was our first opening LOL!:) In Galveston we had to go through customs and immigration on turn around day........it was so messed up........you should have seen the look on the customs guy face when he asked where our luggage was and told him in our cabin for next week....... I thought we were in transit, but they sure took us through customs and immigration........

We are doing the Serenade.......not the Adventure.........I'll email you later today.

We did a B2B on the AOS in 2006. We got a letter in our cabin the last nite of the 1st leg. to meet in a lounge. At that time we were given our New Sea Pass Card, we could go off the Ship and re-enter )to have your pic taken), or had the choice to stay on the Ship and get your Pic taken the next time you went off the Ship. We stayed on the ship and had a pic taken when we got off at the 1st port on the 2nd leg. If I remember correctly we had to go through immigration on the Ship when we were in St. Thomas ( the 1st US port coming back from the 1st leg). we stood in a line in the dining room, the immigration officers were set up at a table, you showed them your passport/BC, and they marked an X on your seapass card. It took a matter of 10 minutes.

thanks for the quick reply...........in Galveston we had to get off to get our new sea pass card........the ship was in full swing by the time we got back on the ship for the second week........the process you describe sounds so much better......hope it hasn't changed.

Thanks again.

We just did a b2b on Adventure April 20 and April 27. The turn around day was so simple, especially if you stay on the ship. We stayed on the ship and all we had to do was go to guest relations at our convenience to get our new seapass cards.

If I remember correctly, if you are going to get off the ship, disembark as you normally would , and get your seapass card when you return just as if you were boarding the ship for the first time.

I may still have the letter sent to the room with the details, I will look for it to find out exactly what happens if you do disembark if you are interested.

If you still have it.........that would be gREAT......just what I'm looking for. Your explanation sounds very simple and easy.........

Let me know if you have it........and thanks again.

From Mr. Ski...

Hello, this is my first post so my wife is laughing about it but she said that I could give you an accurate explanation. We have taken about 4 B2B's on the Serenade OTS out of San Juan. The pier supervisor, Lisa, has her crew well trained and I think that SJU is the best port that we ever deal with. The way that the Serenade OTS does this is that we get our letter in the cabin about 2 nights before disembarkation. It asks that we meet at Guest Relations at 10:30 am on the day of disembarkation. By this time, all groups have been asked to disembark. It is cool because you get to meet the entertainers, etc. that are also B2B and talk to them about their shows. I have met several and played golf with them in the 2nd week. You are escorted off of the ship and you go through immigration. You cannot go through customs are you are considered in-transit and cannot claim 2 allowances for the 2 separate weeks in customs (even though I have tried). You are then escorted through the room where all of the luggage was claimed by the poor souls that had to go home and then you get to come back into the terminal where you get to re-enter the check in area. You receive you new seapass cards there and are free to leave at that time or you will be seated until the ship is ready to reboard. We used to be allowed to reboard immediately but they do not do that anymore. You then reboard with the rest of the passengers for your 2nd cruise but you will be one of the first to get to get back on board and in SJU that is normally around noon. Normal passengers will not have access to their staterooms until 1pm on the Serenade but you can go back to you stateroom if you desire since you left your stuff there. If you want your same waiter in the dining room, you need to tell your head waiter about that request by midweek of your first cruise. We also always tell our stateroom attendant upfront that we are there for 2 weeks so that he/she will know in advance.

Thank you for the detailed explanation........sounds similar to our b2b in Galveston, but we DID have to go through customs both times.........(I say the first one was a mistake)........anyway......thanks for the details.

and congrats on your first post........it was very good........get your username and join your DW on cruise critic.......

Has anyone ever done the B2B on AOS in San Juan and NOT had the same cabin? Do they make you pack your bags and retrieve them on turn around day? Or will they just move them for you? Our cabin for the 2nd cruise is just down the hall.

Karen, advise your stateroom attendant when you first arrive that you will be doing the b2b and that you have to change cabins. Then introduce yourself to your new cabin attendant that you will have on the second cruise.

They will usually help you move your things in the morning........you don't have to repack your luggage. It really is a painless procedure.

Enjoy your cruises.......................b2b's are the best.

Hey Jim :)

I have done 2 B2B's on the AOS, most recently this past March 2008, and the other in 2007. Both times I found it to be very easy and very organized. We had the same cabin for both weeks, which I think makes a difference in the way your morning goes on turnaround day. I went to Guest Relations on Saturday night and made sure that my new seapasses were ready for the 2nd week (and they were!) I simply went back to GR on the morning the first cruise ended and picked up the new cards. You will also be issued an "in transit" pass which will allow you to disembark without having to deal with customs. If you have any specific questions about B2B's on the AOS, feel free to email me at anytime ckrobyn@hotmail.com

Happy Sailing :D

Just off the Liberty B2b. We went through customs for each week and each time had to have the form filed out.

Thanks, amickeyfriend.

I guess it depends on the port and the ship. It sure would be nice not to have to get off the ship. We are planning on coming in to San Juan at least a day early to do some exploring. We've been to SJ a couple of times already.

Great! Thanks so much for your help. I can't wait! It will be my 50th BD so I wanted to do something a little bit special with this cruise.
