Our first back-to-back cruise and then we get an upgrade & OBC! Can't beat that! This board is so educational:) Smooth sailing to all!:D Lee Back-to-back, oh you are so lucky! Maybe one day I'll be as fortunate.:D
vic/leelee Posted June 7, 2008 #29 Share Posted June 7, 2008 What if this is your first cruise??? Can you still use the DP3 number??? And what about Cat 11 "suites" on the Fantasy?? Ever hear of them dropping in prices???
MIZZ_K Posted June 7, 2008 #30 Share Posted June 7, 2008 No OBC for us. But thanks to the price drops we were able to upgrade from the 1a inside guaranteed price we paid to a 6D OV for $60pp. Can't complain about that. :D I upgraded from a 1A to a 6D OV for $50.00pp ($100.00 total) then the price dropped so I got my $100.00 back plus $40.00 and it is costing me less to sail in the OV then when I first booked the 1A. sjcruiser Posted June 7, 2008 #32 Share Posted June 7, 2008 My cruise is still the same price using the DP3 code. Still getting an 8B for the price of an 8A, so I'm still happy.

todurkin Posted June 7, 2008 #34 Share Posted June 7, 2008 Thanks to all you wonderful, experienced CC people I know to check the price of my cruise. Well, I have been checking and today I noticed both the interior and balcony on our Glory cruise had dropped so I called Carnival. Guess what-we're getting $72.00 per booking, so that's $144.00 OBC in all!!!:D The CVP suggested we use it in the casino, and we may just spend some there, but first DH will get his mojito and I'll have a pina colada. Thanks, guys, you're an awesome bunch and I'm learning so much.Heather I booked an OV guarentee for my upcoming cruise a few months ago. I just went on the website and noticed the price for an OV guarentee is now $100.00 cheaper than what I paid. Should I contact my PVP at Carnival to notify them? We did recieve a free upgrade to the Main Deck a few weeks ago, so does that affect the possibility of OBC?

If it is still lower then contact PVP.

cruzn buckeye Posted June 8, 2008 #38 Share Posted June 8, 2008 Can you get the credit if you booked OVG?If I booked through a TA should I call the TA or Carnival? If the price of the ovg is lower you can get the credit. If you ovg has been assigned you would have to use that price as a comparison. Since you booked with a TA, you have to call them. cruzn buckeye Posted June 8, 2008 #40 Share Posted June 8, 2008 I have an obc credit question, if you book thru costco and the prices drop, can you ask carnival for the obc or are you just out of luck? You have to call Costco. If they won't give you the reduction then call Carnival and ask them to put you on a three way call with your TA. One time this helped us get upgraded to a wraparound suite on the Pride.

KroozNut Posted June 8, 2008 #42 Share Posted June 8, 2008 How to check prices: 1. First, if you are automatically logged into the carnival website when you go there, you will need to LOG OUT. Otherwise, it will think you are trying to book the same cruise again.. I learned that the hard way. 2. Now that you are looking at a fresh carnival.com website, click on the links that help you "plan a cruise" or "book a cruise". Then select the exact cruise you are wanting to check. 3. When you are looking at the page with the exact cruise you want to price out, click on "Select this" or "Book This" or whatever the link says. 4. The next page will give you the option to fill in either a promo code, or your past guest number. Put "DP3" into the promo code section (with no quotation marks), and hit enter, or click "next" or whatever it says. 5. The next screen is where your information is. It will show you the prices for your exact cruise using the DP3 promo code. 6. Here's what to look for: Check the room category that you are currently booked on. IS the price lower on the website? Call your TA or Carnival and tell them you'd noticed the price has dropped, and you will get either a partial refund or OBC. Voila! I just scored a $80 credit on my cruise this week! Will this work if you're already getting a different discount such as a military discount, or a 'special rate'? I can certainly see them denying this discount or OBC because of your already 'discounted fare'..
sms30519 Posted June 8, 2008 #43 Share Posted June 8, 2008 I think what you would need to do is see which one gets the better rate...military or past passenger.
KroozNut Posted June 8, 2008 #44 Share Posted June 8, 2008 I think what you would need to do is see which one gets the better rate...military or past passenger. Always do that anyway, but just wanted to point out that this DP3 code is not a panacea for a discount/OBC in every case. If you've already got a discounted fare, it may not be a better deal.. MESPal Posted June 9, 2008 #45 Share Posted June 9, 2008 I tried to get the info, but it kept bumping me because we're not flying and even though I put NO on airfare it needed a city. My mother has been on 9 cruises, but this is the first one we've tried to do this on. We are going on the Fantasy and the rate is $100 less than she booked it for on the main site. Any help? Thanks, Missy
trock Posted June 9, 2008 #46 Share Posted June 9, 2008 When checking for the price drop, is it better to sign into Carnival or research it 'blind'?

Thanks, Missy It is my understanding that they ask for the city (even if not flying) because sometimes there are discounts based on where you live. So are you saying the current rate is $100 less now than what you originally booked? If so, call your PVP or your TA and ask them to check it out for you. sms30519 Posted June 9, 2008 #48 Share Posted June 9, 2008 When checking for the price drop, is it better to sign into Carnival or research it 'blind'? I usually check it blind and just put in the DP3 code to see past passenger upgrades/discounts. I just tried it while I was logged in and it automatically put in my past passenger number and it did not show the upgrades I was seeing when I did it blind. Not sure what is up with that. Sherman793 Posted June 9, 2008 #49 Share Posted June 9, 2008 When you go to the Carnival website and select the cruise you want, then click BOOK NOW and on the next page, you fill in the DP3 code...click NEXT and it will show you what upgrades/discounts are available. Hope that helps! Well heck I JUST did this while I had this screen open too and all it did was tell me this code is invalid. Maybe it only works if there are offers available on that particular cruise? Mine is not until April 2009.

Maybe it only works if there are offers available on that particular cruise? Mine is not until April 2009. I recall someone saying that if it comes back invalid it does mean there are no offers available for that cruise. But keep checking periodically. When I originally booked there was an upgrade offer on my OV cabin but not on my Interior cabin. When I checked back last week there was an upgrade offer on the Interior cabin so I got the price reduction.
