Fantasy - how early to check in?

I am taking a group of 14 (including 6 children 4-14) on the Fantasy. I don't want to spend a lot of time in lines to keep the kids happy, but have to check out of our New Orleans hotel by 10:30 am. What time should I plan to be at the port? Carnival says 12:30, but I have gotten on other ships earlier than the posted checkin time.

that is about the time we got there. we were able to get in line behind the wedding parties. as soon as they went thru we were processing.

 

we had to wait in the waiting area for maybe 30 minutes. if even that long...

We were just on the Fantasy earlier this month. No need to wait till 12:30. We checked out of the hotel about 10 and headed for the port. From the time we parked in the terminal parking garage to the time we were having lunch on the Lido was MAYBE 30 minutes. If we had waited till noon to head to the terminal, I'm sure we would have had a much longer wait. Have a great time!!!!

They usually start boarding at 11:00 if everything is on schedule. Wedding parties first, then VIP people. Lots of chairs in the waiting area.

They start processing around 10:30-10:45am with boarding starting around 11ish.

11am - 11:30am is a good time to start checking in.
