Future Cruise booking onboard

Hey all! We're going on the 4 day Inspiration this month. It looks like we're going on the same cruise for xmas. Does anyone know if we can book a future cruise onboard the Inspiration and if there is any incentive for a 4 day future cruise? Thanks!

Other than getting a Carnival charge account, I have not seen any special offers while cruising. There use to be but that was years ago.

 

You would think this would be the perfect opportunity but they probably figure if you liked your cruise, you will probably book any way so why give a discount.

Royal Caribbean has a great program. I'm surprised that Carnival hasn't jumped on the same bandwagon. When you book a future cruise onboard with RCI, you pay a reduced $100 deposit and get an onboard cruise credit, that amount varies by the length of the future cruise. But I will say that Royal is much more expensive than most other lines...Carnival is almost always a better price!

There are 4 or 5 ships now offering the ability to book while on board. Trock had a post yesterday listing the ships. I know the Splendor is one...and I plan to take advantage :)

I think they are "testing" the program. I imagine it would be expensive to place a person on every ship in this position what with training, creating a desk/area and creating marketing materials and stuff...then if it wasn't profitable...

On Princess you can just fill out the form and drop it in a box for future cruise credit.....no staff required ;)

You can't actually book a specific cruise if you wanted I'm guessing? I'd rather deal with a person, have them there to answer my questions and book the room I want for the cruise I want but who knows...if it's not popular maybe Carnival will go that way too.

Thanks for the info! It looks as though they are testing a program out. Hopefully it will extend throughout the fleet.

 

On RCI, they do have a future cruises specialist to help you or you can drop a sheet in the box also. We had an appointment but they were way behind the schedules timed and the specialist was pretty rude so we just handed in our sheet for "any" future cruise to get the OBC.

 

The nicest part, besides the OBC, was that they had brochures onboard. That was key in our own planning and made for great reading on deck. (Much better than the mystery novel I brought-LOL)

I agree Skivoodoo, we booked our next cruise with RCCI while on Voyager, the agent was always behind schedule. We were on the same deck with her office and she was continually busy. I think its pretty popular, and its a great deal to get an extra obc. I hope Carnival starts doing it like Princess and you just fill out the form and they deliver the Certificate to you. We had appointments with the Loyalty Ambassador on Voyager, and then we would get there, she would be busy, we would wait... it was a little annoying. I hate appointments when on a cruise - I like freedom to do what we want to do. Anyway, I think its a great program - on RCCI, you pay $100 each deposit, but that deposit is applied to your regular deposit when booking - you can't book for just $100 - and then you also get the obc.

True, but you get OBC and a reduced deposit of $100 pp and you can use the TA of your choice when you get home :D It really is a great deal!

pretty low fares to top it off:p

I hope they do this on all the ships pretty soon...

marimojo, that's almost exactly what happened to us on the Liberty of the Seas. The Loyalty Ambassador was overwhelmed. They even had to pull a dancer to work a desk to try and help her out. It was a zoo. And like you, I really don't want an appointment on a cruise, unless it's for a massage! LOL We booked 2 open ended future cruises and the $100 deposit per cabin is all we'll need when we book the Oasis of the Seas, once it opens up. At least that's what the confirmation email said...

 

Let's hope Carnival learns from the others mistakes and that it is a raving success!
