OBC or Balcony?

We are cruising in October and the price just went down. I called Carnival and we qualified for either a $90 OBC or could pay $14 for a balcony. We currently have an OV. Which is the better deal? I figure the OBC will cover tips and a few drinks or excursions.

While it would be nice to have the extra $90.00 OBC I think the memories of your first balcony will out weigh the 90.00. Do you really think you will remember that 90.00 next year or the year after and so on!! The balcony memories will last a lifetime!!

To me: A no brainer: GET THE BALCONY

Here's why we love balconies... We love to relax at some point in the day. It could be first thing in the morning, or the afternoon, or evening.. so we enjoy relaxing while sitting on the deck, watching the beautiful ocean/sea. To us, it's like watching a campfire.. you can just sit there and enjoy the view... seriously, it's half of the reason we cruise..

Now, without a balcony, you are up on deck with 1500 people.. not a big deal, really, until you try a balcony. you enjoy your own private view. Wanna wear your PJ's? Go for it. Wanna sip your morning beverage? Excellent! Do it on your balcony!

To us, a balcony is heaven on earth.

We acknowledge not everyone feels the same way, and would rather spend the $90 on drinks, excursion, or the casino.. not a problem, let them take the inside rooms/OV rooms.

By the way, I've had an OV room, and although its nicer than an inside (you can actually see the ocean go by), it's no where near as good as a balcony!

Extra $14 for a balcony?? Are you kidding???

I'd go for the balcony any day!!

We had a choice of a $150 OBC or a free upgrade to a balcony..... we were thrilled..... we're seniors, and we were never able to afford a balcony in the past.... can't wait for our balcony on the 21st..... BALCONY BALCONY BALCONY!!!!!!

Sounds like the balcony is the way to go. Now my question is do I take the cabins after the front which are over the Caribbean Lounge or in the aft over the Adriatic Lounge? Which would be quieter? We're taking in-laws on their 50th Wedding Anniversary so I want to make sure they have a nice trip.

Where are you cruising? If it's somewhere warm, I'd pick the balcony. If it's Canada/NE, I'd choose the OBC, but I'm always cold and know I wouldn't sit outside and enjoy the balcony.

.....and my last two were Ocean View. I really thought I would miss not having a balcony but I was pleasantly surprised. Didn't miss it at all. Now probably the only balcony I would consider if an aft one. I really did enjoy it on my last Canada cruise.

:)

Hey - I resent that! It's in the 70's right where I am in Canada now. :) Very nice out! It was in the 80's a few days ago too, lol.

Now, for $14 I would do the balcony. We've had one in the past, but were still able to go back to an inside as well. It's either that or we can't afford to cruise, so we deal with the inside guarantee. :D

I'd go for the aft - the Caribbean lounge is the bigger of the two, and would have late night shows. I can't see the Adriatic Lounge being that loud. I doubt you'd notice anyways!

Thanks to everyone for your input. I took your advice and upgraded to 8A. Over one of the smaller lounges in the back, but hey if it gets to noisy I can sleep under the stars :) Didn't think I could get more excited but the upgrade has definately changed that.
