Is the Maasdam Canada trip awful

Awful. . . . No way -- more like awesome.

We did our first St. Lawrence/Canada cruise this summer and immediately booked the July 4 for 2009 and will be bringing friends. Great cruise. Of course, it was better with Sail7Seas and DH along for the ride, but will take our chances on the July 4th we booked.

Come along for the ride, and join our Roll Call. Love to have you along!

I am a beach person and Mom wanted to do this cruise. I thought it was going to be the worst ever. I ended up enjoying this cruise. I have been on 26 cruises and this one ranks up in the top 5. I just loved it. I was also chosen as Ms. Maasdam. How fun was that?

I sailed that itinerary on the Maasdam 2 years ago and it was fantastic. although I love the Vista class ships I truly enjoyed the cozy size of the Maasdam. I thought the crew were extra friendly and the service above par, I sailed solo on this cruise and the staff went out of there way to make my cruise a memorable one.

The ports were very interesting , my favorite Quebec City, France without the jet lag!

And like with every cruise I have taken I met many wonderful shipmates, my favorite reason for cruising!

awful:eek:

absolutely, positively, without any question a big NO!!

1st of all, how can any HAL cruise be awful:confused:

the crews are among the finest anywhere on any line; the ships are immaculate; the accomodations are 1st class all the way; you can't possibly do everything the daily program has to offer; the dining experience .. okay, not everything is perfect:D

if you'd like to see the tours in advance, you can simply contact HAL or your travel agent and receive a full brochure .. is every tour a "10" .. of course not .. can anyone name any vacation or cruise they've been on where every single tour turned out to the best, the greatest, the most of the most .. don't think so

Canada-New England has wonderful ports .. Bar Harbor, Halifax, Charlotte Town, Quebec, Montreal .. doesn't get much better IMHO especially in the early to mid fall

boring .. hardly IMHO .. you've got the Ocean Bar, Piano Bar, Casino, Crow's Nest, Explorer's Lounge and show rooms every night .. and of course, there's also movies (with pop corn:))

glad to agree with the majority of other posters

Canada-New England aboard the Maasdam is a fantastic experience

After reading this thread, and looking at the itinerary, I think this would be a great cruise to go on with my in-laws. They've done Alaska, Europe, and Mexico.... this cruise is fairly close to their home, so not a lot of pre-cruise travel, not many time zone changes, and not a lot of "adjustment" needed on their part. They are well into their 80s, so need "easy" travel now.

My parents did this itinerary a couple of years ago and loved it. They said that the people in the Canadian ports were unbelievably friendly. Also, they made their own excursion one day and got flu shots which were in short supply in the US at the time.:)

I forget how many times I've taken this itinerary. Maybe ten; two of them b2b, with another b2b coming in July.

The ports are fairly quiet ('cept Halifax, one of my favorites), the people are very friendly and it's just such a lovely cruise.

It's so nice, I don't mind taking the 4:00am bus from here to NYC, then the 9:00am bus to Boston to meet the Maasdam. A small price to pay for a fine ship and a lovely cruise.
