A few questions for repeat cruizers

We have been on one CCL cruise a few years ago, this time around we are taking our children. I have a few questoins for anyone that may be able to respond.

Arcade: Can cash be used? Or only SS card.

Casino: Same question, can we use cash in the casino?

Also can my 19 year old son, use his own personal debit card for the deposit on the Sail and Sign card?

Thanks

If I am not mistaken... cash will work in the ARcade and of course is WELCOME in the casino when making donations.....:D

Your son SHOULD be able to use his Debit card for S & S charges... but because he is considered a minor, I am not certain of this. But please remember that a hold will be put on his card that will not clear for possibly 1 - 2 weeks after he returns and that could mess with his cash flow needs. Also, it is strongly suggested NOT TO USE A DEBIT CARD when off the ship for fraud or possibly someone draining the account.

Arcade -- yes cash can be used. There is a change machine right there.

Casino -- yes cash can be used. I have never seen any casino turn down good ole' cash!

S&S -- yes, your son can use his own debit card for his S&S account. If it's a 7-day cruise, they will mostly like want to put a $200 hold on it, so he should plan to have at least that much available (and not plan to use that when he gets home for a few days if it's not used on board).

Happy sailing!

I used a debit card and check my balances regularly and never noticed a hold on any amount. Maybe some wierd amount like $5.33 or some very small couple of dollars that went away. Iv never seen exactly $200 held as the person above mentioned.

That's what they put on our card in September on the Ecstasy.

Yes, you'll be able to use cash. And if you plan on playing much you'll want to bring PLENTY of it! Many games require 4 or 5 quarters to play! Yikes! In the '80s I could play almost an hour of Pacman for that much money. :)

Thanks for the replies, I think Ill take some cash for them to use in the arcade, and my son can spend what he want in the Casino, I am not going to authorize him on my card, so he can use his card if he wants.

Do any of you recall the prices on the specialty coffee shops?

In reference to the Arcade Token machine, you can use your Sail & Sign card but only 12 tokens will be issued. I will verify this on Thursday.

I guess I will have to get up from this warm bed and head to the cold living room to post the cafe price pic. BRB.

Here are your answers: Arcade: You can use cash to purchase tokens for use in games.

Casino: I recommend using cash. 3% surcharge if you use a charge card and/or sail and sign card.

Son: If Carnival allows use of Debit cards for deposits. They may only require credit cards. Old policies may have changed.

I would put son on your CC and let him pay you back. Not a wise thing to use a debit card because of the holds, and I bet that he doesn't have a big balance on his anyway.

He should not run up a big bill because he can't buy alcohol on the ship.
