I Just got off the Splendor and boy is it ugly

I went expecting alot of "pepto" and "bubble gum" pink since I had heard so much about it. That and the "pink donuts" had me bracing for the worst.

In reality...if I had not heard about "all of the pink" on the boards I probably would not have even noticed it. There are lots of other colors - the lobby also has beautful copper/rust colors which far outweigh the pink - for me.

I sailed on the Miracle when the lights in the dining room were still "pepto pink". I read so much about how awful they were on the boards, I couldn't wait to see them. If I hadn't read about them, I doubt if I would have even noticed.

Same thing with the Pride. Before our cruise, I read all about all the nude art and the naked mermaids, etc. A few things did stand out, like the statue of David and the lady on a mural going into the dining room (but it really is art.....not porn). But, I doubt I would have noticed it much if not for reading about it before hand.

I have enjoyed all 3 of my Carnival ships, but have also read reviews from folks who hated those same ships for whatever reason. To each his/her own. But, I am always amazed at what a big deal some make over decor. It isn't at all important to me, but I realize that it is very important to others. As long as I'm on a ship, I could care less what it looks like......just bring me that Funship Special and get the show on the road! :p

Thanks for posting the pics Mach, it looks really beautiful, the stairwell art was awesome!!! I think the ship looks colorful and fun, but then I'm a big fan of all the ships decors. LOVED the Legend, even Medusas Lair :D.

Think it's definitely individual opinion, so hopefully my opinion didn't tick anyone off :p

Kelz, so are you saying it looked Shagalicious? or not so much? Oh wait you said you wanted a martini, I concur!!!

Happy Sailing, Carole

The key is having an excellent bartender working it.

Petra on the Liberty was amazing...she could and would make many drinks that were "off menu".

This guy was very talented. He did an excellent job with the Mojitos, which are pretty labor intensive.

The only thing that he COULDN'T produce was a beer... His response to the customer who asked for a Miller Lite - 'This is a martini and wine bar. You need to go up to the Lido Deck.'

We had the same problem when DH tried to order a Captain and Coke with my martini :(. He had to do to the casino bar - not far at all and easy enough to do- but the wine and martini bar is just that....martini's and wine.

But boy oh boy did he make a great carmel apple martini....it had just a tiny bit of butterscotch schnaps in it. Woo-eeee....it was awesome!!!

Ken at the Casino bar make a mean "Royal Flush"...according to my sister ;).

We had a group of 9 and the martini bar was a great place to meet for a drink before dinner. It is close to the aft dining room and a nice quiet place to meet and have a drink.

yes...they do locate it well for before and after dinner drinks.

By the way... the bar at the Pinnacle builds a KILLER martini. The glass is nearly large enough to swim in and it's almost filled to the brim... 3 + shots of your favorite martini juice...

I took that pic after a couple sips...

Okay, I guess staying off topic is okay... :D

I tried Martinis in several bars on the Conquest. Nothing came close to the ones they served in the Supper Club. In fact, one I had in another bar was undrinkable.

If the Splenda has a great martini bar separate from the Pinnacle I think that's great. Now all they need to do is wheel in a new Latin or Country music duo (wearing pink of course) and there's nothing left to want :D.

No Latin music on board that I recall but I did spend a wonderful evening down on the A1A drinking Mojitos and listening to some amazing Latin tunes. Little place called Sangria's, right across the street from the beach.

Check it out if you're in the area...

Yeah...I learned the hard way - several cruises ago - that if I do not call a premimum vodka they are "undrinkable" :(.

I am not a martini drinker, but if you like Margaritas, go to the Robusto Bar, the Piano Bar, the Sports Bar, the Atrium Bar, the Lido deck Aft.....stop anyone you see and get one:D:D:D
