Hi All!

Just back from Majesty to Coco Cay and Nassau! We had a great trip and thought we would share it with you, since we really enjoy the reviews with pictures posted by others on this forum.

First, about us. We are Erin (me) and my husband Charlie. We are both 25 and have been married four years. This is our third cruise, our second on Royal Caribbean. This was a quick weekend steal that I felt I deserved because I have been super busy between work and nursing school. With finals just around the corner, what better way to take a quick break? Also with us were two good friends, first time cruisers.

We are from Fort Myers, which is about a 2 1/2 hour drive to Miami. We left about 8:30 AM, took a potty break at rest stop. Well, it was supposed to be quick but ended up taking half an hour because we were right behind a cruise tour bus. Those darn cruisers. ;) We continued the drive and got to the port a few minutes before 11:30. After parking, we excitedly dropped out bags off with the porter (tipping $10 for 3 bags, hopefully assuring they arrive intact) and on to the ship we went!

This was the easiest and fastest embarkation ever. No line at security, no line at the check-in counter. We were on the ship within 5 minutes. Yes!!!

Of course, straight up to the Windjammer we went and enjoyed a delicious lunch, though there was no honey-stung chicken in sight. Apparently they open up the rest of the buffet a little later but we were too early. Regardless, we thoroughly enjoyed our first meal.

Not a very flattering picture, but meet Erin and Charlie:

After lunch, we walked out onto the pool deck and started to look around. The ship was still pretty empty.

Up in front of us was Jewel of the Seas.

After walking the pool area, we walked aft towards the Viking Crown Lounge. We discovered the rock climbing wall. I had every intention to climb it but never found the time.

ry%3D400

Then we walked up from Deck 12 to Deck 14 to take a look at the Viking Crown Lounge. On the Grandeur last year, this was one of our favorite hangouts. But on this sailing, this was the only time we were up here all weekend.

After touring the Viking, we started heading downstairs and first came upon the Spectrum Lounge:

The only time we returned to the Spectrum was for the C&A Q&A with the Captain.

So far we have been very impressed with the quality of the ship. She looks great.

We stopped by the Chorus Line, where they have the singers/dancers, comedians, juggler, etc. It is 2 stories.

ry%3D400

Deck 5 is the lower level of the Chorus Line, as well as Schooner Bar and the Casino.

Next was deck 4 and the Starlight dining room. Before leaving I emailed RCL Dining and requested a table for 4 by a window. I was very pleased to discover this upon our arrival:

Yea!! :D I'm loving this trip so far.

Can't wait to read the rest. We'll be on Majesty in January.

Hope you have pics of Coco Cay.

Yes we do, I'll post plenty of them. Coco Cay was the hightlight of this trip for me! I must go to work now :( but will be back a little later.

thanks for the email address! I just sent a quick note with our request for Monarch in 10 days. The Maitre 'D on Sovereign told us in September that soon 85% of the seating assignment will be done by the ship and not the home office. Anyway, if rccldining can't accomodate me before I board, I can always ask for reassignment when I get to the ship.

I'm looking forward to the rest of your review!

No problem! You should get a confirmation email later today. I've read on here that it's not a true confirmation of the requested table assignment, just a confirmation that they recieved your request. However, in my case it worked out perfect. :D Although the window turned out not to be necessary because the sun was already set when we were seated at the 6:00 time.

So on with the tour! Since we are in the dining room on deck 4, I'll take a moment to show you all the beautiful remodeled public bathrooms on this deck. They were stunning:

ry%3D400

Along the atrium (I think on deck 4) is the internet cafe:

ry%3D400

I can't tell you much about it because we never used it. Next comes the Centrum/Atrium. I was expecting a skylight, but there wasn't one. However it was still well let. As we were boarding they were decorating for Christmas, as it was the day after Thanksgiving. You can see the staff pondering the decorations in this picture:

So finally it was 1:00 and we made our way down to our room on deck 2 to drop off our bags. When we got down to the landing on the 2nd floor, we saw out suitcases by the elevators so we grabbed those too since I wanted to change into lighter clothes. The day started out very chilly but had warmed up fast! Our room was 2565, an interior cabin with two pull-down beds even though we didn't need them. We have only had inside rooms in the past and woudn't go any other way, unless we come across some wealth of money we don't currently have. And I knew that these rooms would be smaller than on other ships... but I was still surprised at how small they were!

ry%3D400

The bed was pushed against the wall on one side, and the foot of the bed was up against a wall as well. There was no sitting area except for the chair at the desk. The closet was also smaller than I was used to, but it was fine for 3 days. I was also surprised at how firm the bed was. The flat screen TV was a great addition, but a little awkward being on the back wall. DH and I had to cuddle in the corner to lean against the wall where our feet would have been. But since I don't care where I sleep as long as I'm on a ship, it didn't matter to me one bit!

There was a safe in the closet, with a keypad lock that I never did figure out how to use. Don't worry, the room steward didn't steal our stuff. Speaking of, this was our first time with a female room steward and she did great. She introduced herself to us that first day, but she had a terribly long name and thick accent so I never got it down. She wasn't overly spectacular or memorable, but did her job wonderfully.

The bathrooms were standard cruise ship bathrooms with the clingy shower curtain. Clothes pins helped hold it down. There was a shampoo dispenser in the bathroom, a bar of soap at the sink, and no other novelties. A hairdryer was kept in the desk but I brought my own.

Now that we dropped off our stuff, we went up to my favorite deck, the life boat deck (deck 7). I love this deck. It just feels very "shippy" to me. ;)

At 2:30 we planned to meet other friends from Cruise Critic at the pool bar. (Hi Everyone!) MattinFLL wore the orange hat that we gathered around. We didn't stay very long because we felt bad abandoning our friends, so we said farewell and enjoyed the pool area for a bit. A Jamaican band entertained us from above the pool bar.

Why must DH make faces when I'm trying to take a cute picture?

Right inside the doors coming from the pool is the Windjammer buffet. Here are more pics:

The second one is the drink station upstairs by Compass Deli, Sorrentos, and Johnny Rockets. Compass Deli and DOrrentos are free, there is a $3.95 fee for Johnny Rockets but we got a free coupon in our C&A book for being gold members. The pizza did not look very appetizing, so we skipped that. Our friends tried some but said that it tasted like it looked! I had really been looking forward to Johnny Rockets, but with 3 nights and two ports there just wasn't time. We thought about doing a late-nite run but were just too tired. Compass deli though was my afternoon fave. They had great pressed sandwhiches and quesadillas. It was perfect for a lite afternoon snack.

4:15 was the Muster Drill. It was quick and painless. Being on the shaded side of the shipped helped.

ry%3D400

There always happens to be one very loud cruise passenger that you see your entire trip. We met ours during Muster. He was standing near us, and we could never go very far the rest of the cruise without bumping into him. (He's not in the picture, LOL)

At 5:00 it was time for sail away! Carnival Imagination left first (Ah, the ship that addicted me to cruising!) then Jewel of the Seas, which had to sail past us to then turn around to leave.

Finally, we sailed past south Beach and out into the blue sea:

ry%3D400

At this time, we had to rush downstairs to get ready for 6:00 dinner.

There on the menu was the famed $14.95 steak. However, I had steak every night and never had to pay for it. It was delicious. DH had chicken marsala which he also enjoyed. I also had my favorite cruise ship dish: Chilled strawberry bisque. YUM!! Sorry, no food pics!

Our Waiter was Tyrone from Trinidad. He did an excellent job and kept us laughing, as well as very informed of the next days activities. I don't remember our assistant waitress's name, but she was from Ukraine, and although didn't chat much at all, our water glasses were always full and we always had bread on our plates. On my plate? Savory bites.

ry%3D400

We then went to Chorus Line for the Welcome Aboard show. It was good, but we would have skipped it if we weren't with first timers.

Ricky Matthews was the cruise director. He is from Jamaica and did a terrific job. He has very flexible knees. If you've seen him, you know he dances a lot, but always twists from his knees!!

It's getting late, and I'm used to going to bed early, so we take a quick look at deck 7 at night before tucking in.

And that's it for Day 1!! Tomorrow morning I will bring you day 2 with Coco Cay!

Thanks for the pics.Reminds me of my Majesty cruise last august.

Great Photos, Erin! You've got me drooling and dreaming about my next cruise! Thanks for sharing and keep 'em coming!

D.

Thanks!!

OK, OK, I should be studying but I can't resist. Here's a Coco Cay teaser:

I am usually up at 4 AM for work, so it was not so much of a stretch for me to get up and watch the sunrise every day. I tried to get Charlie to watch it with me, but he was just too comfortable on the bed. I LOVED getting up early. There is hardly anyone out and about. Windjammer opens at 6AM for the baked goods, cereal, and tea/coffee. I'd make myself a nice cup of tea with honey and then head up on deck. When I arrived arrived at 6:15 or so here is what I saw:

ry%3D400

Sunrise was to be at about 6:45 so I still had a bit of time to watch. Over the coarse of last night's total darkness to different stages of sunrise, here is the pool deck:

The ship was moving pretty slowly, and I could see Coco Cay in the distance as we approached.

Isn't the pool deck lovely with all those empty loungers?

ry%3D400

At this point I went downstairs to drag Charlie up out of bed. Turns out he was laying in bed watching TV!! I couldn't believe he stayed in bed to watch the TV when there was such a beautiful show going on outside. Oh well, boys will be boys.

When we went back up to the pool deck to grab breakfast, this is what we saw:
