Gsel Posted December 9, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2008 After a recent death in my family we had to cancel our Eurodam cruise just a couple a days before leaving. HAL went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied with all of the arrangements for refunds and credits due to us. We had taken out the HAL insurance for this cruise (very unusual for us we have always used another company) and didn't think we would be happy with the results. We also had a future cruise credit we thought we would lose. Not the case, HAL made sure everything was settled and we were able to take care of funeral arrangements with no worries about all the money lost. We will be writing a letter of thanks to HAL for their help and quick response in a time when we needed it.

No need to provide the obituary and funeral info etc. Likewise with medical cancellation, no need to provide personal info 24 plus hours prior to departure. off2ctheworld Posted December 22, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 22, 2008 We had a similar case 3 years ago 24 hours before departure. It was to be our first cruise. HAL went over and above their responsibilities by refunding some items (drink cards) that we had purchased but not included in the insurance. They even called us twice in about a 10 month period, just asking how we were doing and sent us the book that we were to receive for sailing with them. Made us HAL supporters. Happy to hear they are continuing their fine service.
