Cruise Ambassodors

I have heard that some cruise lines use mature single gentlemen as "ambassadors". That is, partners for single lady cruisers- dancing, playing bridge, escorting on excursions etc.

 

Does anyone know if this still exists, and how one would apply?

 

I have a divorced friend, former executive , who was bought out of his professional job and is now "at loose ends". He was wondering if this was still so, and, if so, how to apply.

HAL still has a few "social hosts" on the longer cruises. I have read on CC that the positions are unpaid - they receive the cruise as "payment". That is hearsay.

The one major requirement is their dance skills. These hosts spend most of the time dancing in the clubs and with the professional dance instructors.
