VIP Check-In

Yes, we loved the Freedom....;)

We had a party of 20 with adjoining rooms and we opened all the balcony dividers...pretty cool !!!!

Hey jakie...just cleaned the COCA-COLA off my keyboard and came across another one of your posts.

Q: Do you have to let your PVP know ahead of time about wanting balcony dividers opened, or do you wait and ask your room steward?

Thanks!:D

We are sailing on the Miracle on Feb. 1 and have the advantage of using the VIP Check-In since we have a suite. There are a few others traveling with us that do not have a suite. Does anyone know if they can check in too using the VIP Check-In line since they are traveling with us?

No, they can't unless they are sharing a cabin with you.

You have the option of waiting with your friends in the general boarding area or waiting in the VIP room.

If they permitted everyone to bring their friends into the VIP lounge for checkin, the premise would soon be meaningless and there would be no room for those who are Platinum or VIP status.

Okay, Devil's advocate, do whatever the heck you want. Apparently, some sit around and think up ways to get around everything. I have more important things to do in life.

You'd think they were giving away cash the way people try to get around this.

Exactly! That's what's happened to the so-called "Past Guest" party. Everyone brings their friends and relatives who are not qualified and have turned this once nice event into a hog-trough of scrambling for free drinks and free eats.

This event has no meaning at all anymore......

I'm waiting for the time (hope it's soon) where they will have an event or gathering strictly for those who hold the Platinum card....and they must show it to enter.

I don't know why some people have a problem with friends traveling together..some VIP others not, and going all "hall monitor" on them.

It's no skin off my nose and it's just manners to allow groups to stay together.

I'd feel happy for the group they're in the VIP lounge having a good time..it doesn't take that much longer to check in a group together than a couple-- I like people to be happy. Don't you?

So you won't mind if all the Saints and Sinners are checked in before you because I am Platinum and we are a group?

Just wondering, if you ALWAYS travel with them, wouldn't they be Platinum by now, too? :)

Just trying to be funny, that's all!

I'm going on my first cruise in three weeks, and I'm in a suite, so I'm looking forward to finding out what this VIP boarding is all about!

Dont get too excited about VIP check-in. The first time I experienced it we walked to the VIP desk. Had to WAIT for 3 other couples to check-in. After our check-in we were led to a holding area which was seperated from the "peon" area by a yellow rope. Had to sit there for an hour then were "escorted" onto the ship. I can follow a line and get myself on the ship--Thank you. After about 10 couples were escorted onto the ship they opened the ropes and all the others started boarding too. So see? Not a really big deal in my opinion. That was at Tampa.

Next week we sail on the Valor out of MIA so we will see if VIP is any better there. By the way we are not Platinum. We just book suites. And we dont so it for priority boarding. We do it for a larger cabin. The cabins are to die for big compared to just a balcony cabin.

Happy sailing all!

Thank you everyone for all your comments. The few others that are traveling with us are not concerned about going through the regular check-in while we do VIP Check-in. I was just curious if that was an option of having others checking in with you. I can see where if they let everyone do it, it would be total chaos.

Boozebabe,

I am with you on this one. I book my room purely off the size as well as the sweet balcony. I could care less about the VIP boarding. Carnival needs to look at using the machines that hotels do that imprint the card in a jiffy so their staff will not have to walk back and forth to collect S&S cards. It would definately improve the flow. People, stop acting like you are special because you paid a little more or have Platinum status. Who gives a chit.

I sailed with my family on my most recent cruise. There were 14 guests in our party. Out of the 14, 9 (including me) are Platinum, and the rest are Gold. In addition, one of our family members, who is a Gold past guest, is old and required a wheelchair. We were all able to go through the priority embarkation system together with no problems at all.

One could only imagine with the temporary communication system they setup to process passengers if they tried to use a hotel type card system and the thing would not work. I am pretty sure there is a little more that goes into printing a S&S card than the plain vanilla hotel room entry card.

As far as being special I tell myself the same thing when I get on an airplane and see all those first class passengers sitting in those special seats or enter the concierge room in a hotel and see all those special people drinking complementary wine.

I really don't care either because either they did pay for it or the earned it. In any case would I try to take their seat or any other privilege knowing I did not deserve it. No.
