zoncom Posted March 6, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 6, 2009 Just got off Solstice with their homemade ice cream. Booked on 14n Masdam Caribbean in April. Does Mas. do homemade ice cream? hours? Are expressos, cappachinos complimentary? How are deserts? Not impressed with Solstice deserts. Any favorite foods on Masdam? thanks.
Krazy Kruizers Posted March 6, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 6, 2009 Ice cream is available from 11:30 to about 4 -- closes for awhile and reopens around 5:30 to about 8 -- all free. With the amount of ice cream that is consumed on HAL ships they can no longer make it. Cappacinnos are free with breakfast, lunch and dinner only in the main dining room. Expressos you can buy at the Explorations Cafe. We haven't really been impressed with any desserts on HAL ships the last couple of years. We do like the freshly made individually at the Pinnacle Grille.
EbayCruiser Posted March 6, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 6, 2009 The bread pudding every day at lunch in the Lido is "to die for". One of my favorite things about HAL cruising! :)
savannahgirl1 Posted March 7, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 7, 2009 Their pistachio ice cream is to die for also. It is soooo gooood. :D
sail7seas Posted March 7, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 7, 2009 We think Maasdam's Pinnacle is excellent. We also find the job they do in the Main Dining Room to be very, very good. We have had many wonderful breakfast, lunches and dinners on Maasdam. :) Chef Joch Barrelman has been aboard our last few Maasdam cruises and we think he's terrific. Rare Copper10-8 Posted March 7, 2009 #6 Share Posted March 7, 2009 With apologies beforehand, I'm a bit on the anal side at times: Maasdam, pronouced "Maahs-dam" as in "say Aaaahh". Named after a dam in the river Maas and the town of the same name in the Dutch province of Zuid Holland, a little bit south of the city of Rotterdam
