OceanDreaming2 Posted March 17, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2009 We received a $10 refund from NCL today for the Mexican tax which was to take effect in 2009 for every guest sailing on cruise ships. Apparently, the tax will not be implemented until 2010. Watch your mailbox if you have taken a cruise to Mexico this year. :)

javafriend Posted March 18, 2009 #6 Share Posted March 18, 2009 We received a $57 (or so) price adjustment on our upcoming Baltic cruise. No idea why, but the extra 200+ for the 4 of us is a nice surprise. Of course, NCL will be getting it all back, plus some, but they would have gotten it anyway, so absolutely no complaints here. FoCo Posted March 18, 2009 #10 Share Posted March 18, 2009 Did any of you who received a refund or additional on board credit book with a travel agent? Or do you only get it if you book with NCL directly? Thanks
weloverunning Posted March 18, 2009 #11 Share Posted March 18, 2009 Was it $10 pp or per cabin?
BarBug Posted March 18, 2009 #12 Share Posted March 18, 2009 Booked through my PCC. Received a $5pp credit while onboard the Star last month and then received a $10 (total) check in the mail yesterday. Surprised both times........
birtdeltasig Posted March 18, 2009 #13 Share Posted March 18, 2009 I wonder why some get checks and some obc (and some apparently get both)...not that it really matters, but I guess I would prefer the obc.
phantomII Posted March 18, 2009 #14 Share Posted March 18, 2009 Was it $10 pp or per cabin? Mine was 10.00 per person in OBC. I'm not sure why I got it, it was a surprise on my bill and I did not ask any questions. We booked thru a TA.

Or do you only get it if you book with NCL directly? Thanks We used an online travel agent and got our refund check yesterday - $5 per person for a cruise we took last October that stopped in Cozumel. I have no idea why others are reporting $10 per person.

OceanDreaming2 Posted March 18, 2009 Author #21 Share Posted March 18, 2009 Maybe because we had 2 stops in Mexico, Costa Maya and Cozumel. Then we should've had 3x the amount we received since we had 3 stops in Mexico.
IWORK2CRUISE Posted March 19, 2009 #22 Share Posted March 19, 2009 We received our $20 check yesterday ($10pp) for the Mexican Riviera cruise that we took on the Sun in Sept. I believe that the OBC's are given for those who have paid but not yet sailed. In our case it was nice to get something back for something that had already taken place. Thanks NCL for stepping up and issuing the refunds!
OceanDreaming2 Posted March 19, 2009 Author #23 Share Posted March 19, 2009 And our $10 check was for the both of us on the cruise. I wonder how they figured out how much to refund?
Rare mking8288 Posted March 19, 2009 #24 Share Posted March 19, 2009 We just returned from our Star Mex. Rivera cruise this past weekend and got $5 pp OBC posted to our account, along with other OBC's that we knew all along, plus, we got cashback from the Casino at Sea program, so we're happy.
