A few questions about the Majesty

We've been thinking about booking a cruise on the Majesty to Bermuda for our anniversary in August. We're novice cruisers, and I just had a couple of questions.

When the ship docks in St. George's, which side of the ship will face the sea?

Is it best to be near the front, middle, or rear of the ship?

It seems that in some of the rooms, there are two twin beds that cannot be pushed together. Does anyone know which rooms have beds that can be pushed together?

Is there any advantage to being on a higher deck? The least expensive ones are near the very bottom.

I'm a bit nervous to book now, for fear that prices will lower as the date nears. I've heard of some cruise lines that will give you an on board credit for the difference, if any rooms are sold for a cheaper price. Does anyone know if NCL does this?

Thanks in advance for any tips!

The majesty is a fantastic ship which I have loved cruising on. As she is a smaller ship I recommend the middle of the ship, I think the lower the better for seasick purposes but if that is not an issue for you, I wouldn't worry about it. I have always like staying on deck six midship. Mainly because I love the casino (which I couldn't hear from my room luckily). Plus being on six you can take the stairs instead of waiting on the elevator.

When in dock in St. George's port side is to the land, starboard to the sea. Beautiful view no matter the side you choose.

I hope you enjoy her as much as I did!

Sure! I am very passtionate about the majesty as that is where I met and then one year later got engaged to my DH. Met on a cruise in 2000 engaged on the same cruise 2001.

You have any more ?'s I'd be happy to answer what I know! :)

There are cabins on Majesty where the beds cannot be pushed together. They're marked with an asterisk on most deck plans.

If the fare price drops, you can actually get that fare for yourself as long as it's before "final payment," which is 75 days prior sailing.

This is probably picky, but when you're in St Georges, you're in a protected harbor. Neither side of the ship actually faces the "sea" ... one side faces Ordinance Island and the other faces the harbor. Both have lovely views.

And our last visit to Bermuda on Norwegian Majesty, the starboard side faced land ... but the time before that, it was port side.

OP.

IMO, some of the lower decks are better than the higher ones. I'll take an unobstructed view on a lower deck over an obstructed one anyday.:) Some prefer a higher deck because they're closer to the buffet and pool deck which I can understand on a large ship. The Majesty is small and NOTHING is far away.;)

I don't know about the cabins with beds that can't be pushed together and I do believe there are some. If you do book, it's worth it to go for a superior rather than a standard cabin because the standards are really small.

If the prices go down BEFORE final payment, you can usually get the lower price. Sometimes the lower price is for new booking only but last year I was able to get the lower rate on our already booked cruise. If you are flexible and don't care what cabin you get, you can always wait until close to the sailing date when prices typically go down pretty far and get a real bargain.

When in dock in St. George's port side is to the land, starboard to the sea. Beautiful view no matter the side you choose.

Yes, the view is beautiful either way but docking can be either way depending on which side they are either doing maintenance or crew lifeboat drills. Last year I did a B2B and not only was it different each time, we were at Penno's Wharf one week and Ordnance Island the next in St. George.

Just booked it! I booked with Orbitz and chose the "Guaranteed" option, where I'm guaranteed a room at HH level or better, depending on availability. Thanks for everyone's advice.

You're going to like Majesty and you're going to LOVE Bermuda! It will be an anniversary to remember. ;) Don't forget to check out the NCL Roll Call forum for your upcoming cruise!
