Drydock Update to Owner's Suite on Sensation.. FANTASTIC!

Regarding the "end of cruise" question... you will be afforded priority debarkation. Just ask the purser and they can likely provide you with #1 luggage tags should you want to leave early. This last time, we had only two suitcases, so we left our cabin at about 8:30, headed down to Empress deck, and were out within a few minutes. If you do leave directly from your cabin, keep in mind that it's Empress deck you need to get to, and the glass/atrium elevators are modified on that last morning so that they don't go all the way down to Empress - simply grab one of the two elevators near the spa entrance.

One time, on a 5 night when we "overpacked", we arranged the night before to have someone bring up a luggage cart at a predetermined time the morning of debarkation. They escorted us all the way down/off the ship and through customs, leaving our luggage by the curb while I went and pulled our vehicle around.

Thanks Tom for all your input.

If I can just walk up to the jogging track via outside stairs, does that mean that people can access my cabin:confused:.

Will I be escorted out of the ship at the end of the cruise?

Thanks again, and again, and again.

PS. Yes, that was my SS cabin. I also moved my kids to another inside closer to us. The S1 was not available for 4 people.

To access the outside stairs, you leave your cabin, then head out the side door. At that point you can take a set of stairs up to the jogging track, or head down - and quickly find yourself on Lido. A VERY convenient location!!

I'm surprised that they would not allow a 3rd/4th passenger in S1 - there are 4 life vests in S2, and I have heard of 4 to 5 people being in one cabin. We were considering a June sailing to bring our son along with a couple of his friends after school lets out. I was quoted $650 pp for 3rd/4th in S2. That's pretty steep for 3rd/4th... but who am I so say!!! (If we do go, we will just have them in an inside somewhere)

ENJOY!

3rd and 4th passengers being allowed in the same cabin is just a matter of how many people are already alocated to that specific lifeboat. I suppose they are all accounted for. Thank you for all your help, Tom.

TITISSA: Here is a picture of Cheryl on the balcony of S1. The balcony is deeper than this picture shows, thus you can sit back and not be seen - for a bit of privacy. You can even see the edge of the bed (over the "N" in Sensation):

You can also (barely) see S1 (balcony) in this photo too (just over that 3rd full size lifeboat as gtalum mentioned):

I hope that helps!

I think I'm going to scream!

I'm sailing Sensation in October, and while I won't be in S1, S2 or anything close, I am soooooooooooo excited to be on a Fantay class ship again.

Imagination was my first way back in 2001 so I don't remember much but I really want to see the updates that have been advertised.

If I yell and scream, will the time pass any quicker?????

Thank you Tom and gtalum. Beautiful cabin even with the obstructed view from the balcony looking down on the life boats. I think it will be fun to look at all the activities going on around the pool area.

There is not a better "people watching" spot --- for better or worse !

I searched out a photo which shows the "obstructed" view. You can still see water looking out, though you can see straight down to the waterline.

You asked previously about the stairs to the jogging track. In this photo (from the balcony of S1 - albeit leaning out!) you can see the door (middle) which leads into the atrium, as well as the stairs leading up to the jogging track and down to Verandah.

Here is an aft shot from your (S1) balcony as well - you may also notice my SIRIUS antenna going up.... up to the top of the railing around the jogging track that is!!! :D:

Tom, thank you so much. I really apreciate you taking the time to answer all my questions and sharing your pictures. Thanks:).

My pleasure!!!

Oh, BTW -- when we previously sailed on the Sensation (prior to dry dock) I had to go and sit on the bench seat outside the door of S2 to get a wireless signal. Now there is an access point IN THE CABIN. You will have a great signal, should you need it!

I know this is probably a dumb question, but you've mentioned your sirius radio several times. What is the purpose of it? Is it just for listening to music, the news, etc.? I'm not technology savvy.

We, on a cruise at least, mainly listed to Ch 71 (Smooth Jazz) - just nice relaxing tunes. When at work it's either on Ch 2 or 71 (though only on Thursdays - last day of our work week). When in my vehicle I go between Jazz and rock... Ch 1, 2, 7 (70's), 8 (80's), 9 (90's), 12, 14, or 15. There is almost always some good music on one of those stations! Commercial free, BTW...

Cheryl, in her car, will listen to Jazz or talk - be it the Martha Stewart or Oprah station... or similar!

It's nice to take your favorite station with you, so to speak - even when on a cruise. One of our more relaxing times was on Goff's Caye in Belize - drinking Belikin beer and listening to smooth jazz!! (not so loud as to disturb anyone else though!)

  • 3 weeks later...
...I look forward to your review of the new SS suite! I took a picture in Cozumel (our Freedom sailing) when the Liberty was also docked there - focusing in on the new spot right up front and over the bridge! You can really see the difference (not the zoomed pick I am talking about) in this photo of both ships:

Perhaps they should have installed wipers on those front windows like they have on the bridge! :D

Tom

Here you go: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=971983

The forward windows stayed very clean actually. I think the slight angle probably helped.

Thanks - great review and pics. Very nice room as well !!

I fully agree with your observations regarding the supper club and the 4:3 aspect ratio. It REALLY gets to me when I watch a stretched program/movie !!

:D
