Day 5 – At St. Thomas

This is the fifth of a daily review of the 11/27 sailing of the Zaandam, eastern Caribbean cruise. The daily review will be short covering the major events.

Meatloaf

This is the big night that the comfort food is meatloaf. The responses on the ship are as varied as it has been on this board. I did try the meatloaf, as a second entrée, and it wasn’t bad. It is very lean which makes it a little dry and solid but, it had a nice flavor. Looking around the dinning room it appears that about 20% of the people ordered the meatloaf.

St Johns

We docked at Crown Bay with the Radisson Diamond. The shopping area at the dock should be completed next spring and that will provide some shopping in the dock area. Otherwise you will need to take a group taxi downtown for $3.50 per person each way. We walked into town which took us about 30 minutes. About 90% of the walk has a sidewalk, (when cars aren’t parked on the sidewalk). Since my last stop here there appear to be many more hawkers on the main street.

Other Stuff

Dinning room is closed for lunch but all other normal lunch eating places are open.
