DonnaK Posted April 27, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2009 a Spirit class ship? We didn't care for our cruise on Carnival Miracle (ghastly decor and very poor service in the dining room), and despite swearing never to cruise Carnival again, due to the economy, we find ourselves considering the Pride. What can you tell me about this ship?

HeidiHo Posted April 27, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 27, 2009 Yes, it's a Spirit Class ship but I've been on both the Pride and Miracle and thought the decor on the Pride to be much nicer. I didn't dislike the decor on the Miracle either tho. The Pride is just classier. Don't bother with the Pride tho if nude art is going to bother you. There's quite a bit of it but it's Renaissance type art. The same stuff you would see in any art museum. As for service, well, it's been years since I've been on either ship and I don't think the class of ship is going to make a difference on service. Either you just happened to have a bad experience on the Miracle or maybe you expected more and Carnival just isn't for you. The only way to know that would be to try Carnival again. glrounds Posted April 27, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 27, 2009 I would agree with all of the above . . . my favorite SHIP of my favorite CLASS OF SHIPS. Classy ship . . . classically decorated. :)
Boston6 Posted April 29, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 29, 2009 Stay away from the Pride. They have lots of service issues on that ship. Just got off the 4/18 cruise.

VAcruiser2009 Posted April 29, 2009 #7 Share Posted April 29, 2009 Stay away from the Pride. They have lots of service issues on that ship. Just got off the 4/18 cruise. I was on the same sailing as you and I have a completely different opinion. I experienced poor service once the entire week - sadly it was the past guest cocktail hour. I had excellent waiters and room stewards and had no complaints in regards to bar and wait staff. Sorry you had a different experience on the Pride. Handsome58 Posted April 30, 2009 #9 Share Posted April 30, 2009 tell us about your cruise I am on the Pride May 30th and would like to know. Some have said negative things and you are the first that I saw that was positive.......if I am on the ship I am happy!!!!!!
IGGY63 Posted April 30, 2009 #10 Share Posted April 30, 2009 I just don't get how people can say that the service was terrible for a whole week. Sure with hundreds and hundreds of staff members with direct contact with us cruisers.....you are bound to find some people 'off their game'...... BUT FOR A WHOLE WEEK IN THE DINING ROOM? REALLY? With respect, I can't see how that is possible. There are too many employees there to ensure your enjoyment including the Maitre' D who also relies on gratuities. I have been on the Miracle 3X and have have always experienced excellent dining room service. In fact, in 8 CCL cruises I don't know if I can recall a bad experience worth mentioning (except the casino, but that is another story). Ya, the grapes in the dining room are a bit much.... Sounds like there is something else at play....
K&P Luv2Cruise Posted April 30, 2009 #11 Share Posted April 30, 2009 Stay away from the Pride. They have lots of service issues on that ship. Just got off the 4/18 cruise. Could it have been that you were just one of the unlucky ones to have experienced a poor/or tired / or at the end of their contract staff member? Since the Pride is starting her Baltimore sailings, the crew were probably looking forward to leaving the ship and heading home, with a whole new crew (or partial) coming on board in Baltimore. I will be boarding her on May 10th, and plan on having a fantastic time !:) As noted by another poster - they did not have the same experience as you. Everyone though is entitled to their own opinion.
Chacooe Posted April 30, 2009 #12 Share Posted April 30, 2009 I have been on the Carnival Pride and it is the best rated ship amongst all the passengers of Carnival Line. That should say something about it. I had the best week of my life when I was onboard her. I was spoiled by the crew, it was like they could not do enough for me. The food was fantastic and also as a person who has worked in the food industry I like to check out the kitchens, they will tell you how well they keep rest of the ship when it comes to cleanliness, these kitchens were beyond clean, they were immaculate, in fact the ovens and counters all looked like they were brand new and had never been used. Anywhere I went on that ship it was like that. As for the decor, it is fabalous, if you want to see what it actually looks like, go to www.webshots.com and in the search box type Carnival Pride and then you can see for yourself what she looks like. I just can't say enough about this ship,it is the best and I know that you will enjoy her much more then the Miracle. I was like you before I sailed on her, I had heard good things and I had heard bad things, so I just thought to myself, I will try her and if I don't like it, I will never book on her again. Personally so far, she is my first choice now. Here is a picture that is inside of one of the elevators.

Chacooe Posted April 30, 2009 #14 Share Posted April 30, 2009 Here is a picture of the outside of an elevator door. I know that this is just a few pictures of the decor, but in the buffet area, it is setup with Mermaids and Dolphins swimming together, it is really cool. I highly recommend going to webshots to see more pictures that were taken by other passengers so you can get an idea of what she looks like. familia_solis Posted April 30, 2009 #15 Share Posted April 30, 2009 Hi OP ..... We are thinking the same thing ... we vowed no more Carnival. The pricing and not having to pay for airfare & a hotel is starting to look appealing. Norfolk will get the Triumph soon and we have been on that ship twice already. We have teenagers and a 4yr old and I am worried about the activities they have to offer for them. I am anxious to read more Pride reviews out of Balti. Don't forget to check out the hugmongous Colossus of Rhodes on the entire wall opposite the glass elevators. Its probably 4 or 5 decks high taking in the entire width of the atrium. :)
flightmuffin Posted April 30, 2009 #17 Share Posted April 30, 2009 My husband and I also just sailed the April 18th sailing. This was my seventh cruise, fourth with Carnival. My husbands first. This is my very honest opinion. 1. The decor has been way overblown concerning the "nudes". I never even really noticed them because it is just classical art. We did feel that the decor was overdone and heavy. The ship didn't have an open feeling.
