Adults without children

Lots of adults without kids on Disney.

Our kids are grown and we have gone 18 times and more cruises booked.

I always post on the roll call threads to get aquianted with others on my cruise. Right now for one of my cruises there are 12 families posting and only one child. The rest are just couples coming.

Last Novenber we had larger group about 25 families and there were 7 couples with no kids. So it is very common.

You can enjoy the adults only areas or the family events too. We do it all even without kids. We have brought kids and grandkids a few times too.

But we love going as just a couple.

If you want a quieter dining time ask for late dining. Most who have younger kids want early dining.

My 8th Disney Cruise is coming up in less than three weeks. All but one have been without children. On that one, my DS, DDIL, DGD, and DH's sister and her family joined us. A Disney Cruise without children is a very different experience from one WITH children, that's for sure, but both are fun. I actually enjoyed our childless cruises because the adult-only areas are really well enforced.

My DH doesn't have enough vacation time for my upcoming cruise and our planned Dec. cruise, so I'm traveling with my best friend, who's never been on any kind of a cruise. We'll be two grandmas having a blast!

We've been on several DCL cruises, and loved them all!! One of them we took our in-laws as a Christmas gift. They have re-booked to celebrate their own anniversary -- they met other adults who were there wihtout kids, and they absolutely loved it!!

Have fun!

This is a popular question and I swear I should copy my answer so I can paste it every time I see it :p

My wife are mid-50s and have gone on five cruises, three of them sans kids (although our 'kids' were already in their teens the first time we cruised with them). Most recently, we cruised this past October, and while their were surprisingly a lot of children on board (as I understand many Midwestern states and Canada were on break) we hardly knew they were there. Aside from the afore-mentioned adult only areas, there are adult learning series, wine and martini tastings and other activities geared toward adults. The crew are very good at keeping the dult only areas kid free. We were in the adult pool on a non-sea day and the pool was fairly empty. A man and his two young bos jumped in the pool - I'm sure ignorant of the fact that it was an adult pool. i was going to get a CM, but before I could even leave the pool, a white uniformed CM came and asked the man to take his kids out. Even the dining rotations tend to be set up so that one of the rotations is mostly older groups. And some of the late night shows even stretch the bounds of Disney behavior in order to play to the adult crowd. So, go, enjoy.

I'm an adult without children. I've been on the

Eastern Caribbean

Mexican Riveria

Nassau

Southern Caribbean

trans-Atlantic

trans-Panama Canal

Western Caribbean

with Disney Cruise Lines. And I like it so much, that I'm scheduled for the Baltic next year. And I'm not the only adult without children, who have taken a cruise. Among my tablemates have been . . .

three sisters (including one from Arkansas) who were mourning the death of their fourth sister.

family of three, including grown son, who owned an orange grove in Florida.

family of three from Canada, including mother, grown son who was in a wheelchair, and a third related to the other two.

a female nursing student from Maryland.

a woman engineer who had just been laid off from her job.

a Japanese woman who was an amateur tango dancer.

There are adults, who cruise with Disney Cruise Line.

Castaway Cay alone is worth a Disney Cruise and you can go to Serenity beach - it is the closest to heaven I have ever been!! We have sailed Disney with and without the kids - and both times were AMAZING

As a widow, I still travel often with my daughter, but she is 35, so that hardly counts as a child.

We are on the November 5th, 3 night cruise, it was offered as a bounce back when the kids cruised Disney on their honeymoon earlier this month. My wonderful new son in law offered to send me in his place (I think he wants to use his vacation time for Phillies spring training) We got a category six deluxe cabin with verandah for $99 each, can't beat that!

I love cruising on the Disney ships as the Children's programs are so great that most kids are happy to attend them and you don't have the "running around" as much as I've seen on other cruise lines.

The adult pool and spa area are lovely.. and quiet. Serenity Beach on Castaway Cay is delightful and for adults only.

I honestly think the Disney theming and organized family activities and shows are wonderful and keep everyone in every age group entertained. The only thing missing that most other ships have is a casino, but being from New Jersey, we don't miss that.

I've sailed Carnival and Royal Carribbean and still love the Disney Cruise line best!

We just got off our first DCL cruise, 6th cruise overall, and 2nd with the kids. We were told that about 15% of DCL passengers are traveling without kids. Going on DCL when kids are in school seems to make no difference. There were A LOT of kids onboard but i must say that they were very well-behaved.

My suggestion is to ask yourselves what is important to you in a cruise. If you love Disney, great shows, lots of activities, and a beautiful adult-only beach, then DCL is for you. If you want few lines and crowds and great food then i would suggest another line such as Celebrity.

Overall impression of DCL was awesome shows, lots of fun activities, crowded public spaces (esp. the adult-only pool), good food but not great, excellent service, nice staterooms, and an amazing private island. Would we go on DCL again? With the kids, yes for the right price; without the kids, no, but many other couples seemed to be having a great time.

Hope you enjoy your next cruise whomever you sail with.

I mentioned in another post, this is our 10th Disney cruise and we don't have children, we always go with other couples. Its relaxing, lots of movies, Quiet Cove pool is nice. Best spa I've been to on sea. Great specials on in port days in the spa. Love the food, beverages all day on the pool deck.

Get a balcony if you can, its great. Yes, there are always lots of kids no matter what time of year. But that doesn't matter to us. In fact I find that because Disney is more family oriented, we aren't bumping into the college crowd that so many other lines seem to attract.

Make sure you make your Palo reservations the minute you get on the ship. Brunch is fabulous! Enjoy your cruise.
