Early Saver & OBC Question

I booked with a TA, using Early Saver, now it looks like the price has dropped. Since I used Early Saver, am I eligible for an OBC?

 

If so, should I contact Carnival or my TA?

Yes when I booked early saver directly thru Carnival they told me I will get credit up to 2 days before sailing if the price drops! I think you need to go thru your TA since that's who you booked with.

Yes, you are eligible for the price drop. I think how it works is: if you have not made final payment, they just reduce the amount owed. If you have made final payment, you get OBC.

Just wanted to say that we have a large group going (over 30) and some booked by TA and when the price drops they are being refunded on their cc since they paid it in full on their cards. Not sure why they got this instead of the OBC!

My experience has been through Carnival booking. I've had about 7 price drops and did the form myself, all were approved. I have 450.00 obc right now and my cruise is in 24 more days. I hope it will drop even more but this is ok also. You will need to find the price drops and then hound your TA.

I booked early saver with carnival and just received the email approving the price reduction, took about 48 hrs. Since I haven't paid in full yet, my final payment has been reduced. :D

for Early Saver Price Drops You need only check Carnival.com, as the fares have to be carnival-advertised. MANY cruises aren't dropping in price; if you're 7 or 8 months out, you probably won't see much price movement either. ken

Here you go. I keep it saved in my favorites so I dont' have to track it down each time. Seems like if you submit it before final payment it's approved quickly. After final payment they don't seem so quick to deal with it.

i found a cheaper rate,called my ta she filled out the online,the form is for ta only and in 48 hrs i had a 817.88 credit for my stateroom and 817.88 for my sons room

I just filled out the form since the 3rd person rate dropped by $70...so they will email me a confirmation...is that right? I check the rates every day but I wasn't really looking at the 3rd person rates...good thing I checked today since one of our cabins has 3 people :eek:

Yes you should receive a confirmation within 48 hours. If not you'll have to call in. Be sure you keep track of when you submitted your form, they need that info to pull them up.

AMEN!!!! Before our final payment it took less than the required 2 business days for the adjustment. We've had 3 price drops since final, and I've had to call each time to actually receive the OBC, after submitting numerous forms.

 

I diligently check the prices and am hoping for more drops but am OK with what we have so far. We started on Riveria in an inside cabin and are now on Empress in an OV and still have $140 OBC. And this is a short 4 day cruise. I cannot imagine how much the price would have dropped if it was a longer cruise.

Question - if you get an OBC due to a rate reduction, can you use it to pay gratuities? How about in the casino? Can you cash it out if you don't use all of it?

YEs they will take tips out of it and you can pull it into the casino and cash out when you are done playing.

At first I used the Carnival online form, but received an email that said since my booking with held with a TA, I would need to contact them. I sent her an email and within hours it was taken care of! Since I hadn't made my final payment, my balance due was reduced. I saved $90! Not as great as what some of you all are posting, but I'll take it and keep on checking!

This is my first cruise and I have been lurking for a week! I have learned lots from these posts, but I have one ?? Where do I look for price reductions? I booked my cruise with a Carnival Employee (what do u call them?). Thanks for all the fabulous info!

I just go on the carnival website and act like I'm booking a cruise and pull up my date. Be sure you mark any discounts you are eligible for like your state, over 55 or past guest.

 

If you were assigned a person they would be a pvp otherwise they are just customer service reps or cruise specialists.
