Carnival Freedom Cruise OR Disney Cruise???

If I could afford Disney - Disney hands down. Their service is the TOP!!!! But at this point, I can not afford the thousands it costs. I can only imagine their service on a cruise is top notch - at WDW is is unparalleled. Plus on a Disney Cruise - everything is included (that is extra on Carnival) - transportation to and from the airport; airline check in on the ship.

We have only done one Disney cruise to take our oldest granddaughter when she turned 7, but if we could afford it Disney would be our first choice hands down even for just the two of us.

Not to say we haven't enjoyed all of our other cruises, but Disney is..... well Disney. The food, entertainment, service, etc are just fabulous! Yes it is expensive, but for us it was worth every $$$ we paid just to watch my granddaughter's little face.......PRICELESS!!!

We will take the little one on Disney when she's old enough......after that it will be back to the "regular" cruises for us. Bottom line if you can afford it, even if it's just one time, do it!!!

I have been on 7 Disney cruises, transportation from the airport is not included in the cruise price for a 7 day cruise. If you book the 3 or 4 day cruise with the 4 or 3 day stay at WDW then the transportation is included.

I had finally booked my first Disney cruise for this coming November to take my kids on - ages 11, 14. I have wanted to Disney forever. Problems arose, decided to not take my kids out of school (we thought we had picked a week that they were already out 2 days and we were incorrect on that). So in looking for other alternative dates I happened to see the Carnival Dream I was actually able to do a cruise the week of Christmas, the IS was the same cost as the November Disney. Ultimately I decided to switch to a cove balcony on the Dream for that week, but I could never come close to being able to afford the Disney cruise for the same week.

I looked at other ships that were also cheaper from Carnival during that same week but really liked the idea of the new ship and we still leave from Port Canaveral so we didn't have to change the port we were going to.

That's going to be a Chistmas they will remember forever. I'm sure you are going to have a wonderful time.

Aloha-

My sister has invited the family to join her family on a Disney Cruise to the Carribbean. She has a 2 year Old and a 8 year old.

My husband and I were already planning a cruise on the Carnival Freedom-Eastern Carribbean for that same time, celebrating his 40th Birthday.

Disney Vs. Carnival. We would LOVE to join them but I am un-sure if it would be a total BLAST for my husband's 40th B-day...

We have been on the Carnival before and LOVED IT!!!! Disney also looks just as FANTASTIC...

Your comments and advise would be greatly appreciated!!!

Mahalo,

We mostly cruise Carnival but have also been on a 3 day Disney cruise. We love Disney but we would choose Carnival for cruising.

The service was great on both lines and everyone was friendly to us. If you talk with them they will talk with you.

Castaway Cay (Disney) is great but so is Half Moon Cay (Carnival) and food from the ship is included on both. The difference is you can dock at Castaway Cay which is nice.

You have to pay for pop on Carnival but for the difference in cost for Disney you could buy a lot of pop.

The cabins were similar on both lines and about the same size.

We liked the sliding balcony doors on Disney over Carnival's doors.

We really hated the split bath on Disney. We are not big people at all but found it very tight in the bathroom and couldn't even close the door to the toilet/sink room. Others like it but not us.

We also really did not like the rotating dining rooms on Disney. Only one room was anything close to formal and we were in the Caribbean themed room for formal night which was not not conducive to an elegant dining experience.

Also the food on Carnival is much better and was available for more hours than on Disney. An example is the breakfast on the last day. On Carnival you could eat in the dining room anytime it was open. On Disney you had to have breakfast according to your supper time. Even the late dining had breakfast way too early. Also the buffet is not open as long.

We don't have kids but have never been bothered by kids on either Carnival or Disney and Carnival has been over Christmas and spring break.

Not having a casino on Disney didn't make a difference to us since we don't spend much time there anyway.

We thought we would see more Disney characters on the ship like we did when Premier was associated with Disney. We almost never saw anyone and there was a timetable that you could ue to find them but we never made the effort. On Premier they were in the dining room every night.

I guess we're a little biased towards Carnival for cruising and we feel comfortable there but we'd rather cruise more often and since Disney costs at least twice as much we don't think it's worth it. But - we really enjoy the Disney parks so much that we work there for special events and it is the greatest. It's a personal opinion and we've never had kids with us so I can't compare that but you'll like whichever you choose.
