jaxson Posted December 24, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 24, 2004 We are traveling with 3 other couples and would like to arrange a cocktail party in our suite. Does this have to be arranged in advance with ship services? In the past we have had wine & appetizers arranged from the concierge, but we would like cocktail setups as well. Thanks in advance for your help!!! Merry Christmas
Krazy Kruizers Posted December 24, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 24, 2004 Unless you are planning the party on the first day of the cruise, the concierge can take care of everything for you. You select the appetizers and the various bottles of liquor that you want to offer. They may throw in a couple of free bottles of tonic. HAL is now charging for appetizers if the order is for more than 2 people. And of course you know that you have to pay for the alcohol.

KK We had champange and appetizers in our suite for 6 people and were not charged extra for the additional appetizers. We did this several times during the course of our last cruise. When my husband asked if there was an additional charge the concierge replied,"of course not." No charge appeared on our bill. Linda
Sage Posted December 25, 2004 #4 Share Posted December 25, 2004 I agree with Ryansmemom. We had appetizers served for eight in our PS several times and were never charged for the extra. In fact, they checked back to see if we needed more each time. Your Concierge should be able to arrange your cocktail party, but if you require a bartender, it may take more notice. GayleArc Posted December 25, 2004 #6 Share Posted December 25, 2004 We have hosted several cocktail parties in our suites. The last being in Nov. We just arranged it through the Neptune Lounge. We had about 15 people and hors dourves (sp) hot and cold at no charge. We had an open bar which we had to pay for and a bartender who we tipped. We of course had to pay for the liquor. They brought a bar into the room on a tea cart. It turned out to be a great party.
jaxson Posted December 25, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted December 25, 2004 Thanks for your imput! What was the charge for having a bartender, that would be a nice touch. Cheers,

Krazy Kruizers Posted December 26, 2004 #9 Share Posted December 26, 2004 We had our concierge arrange for a suite party on our last cruise - Statendam - Oct/Nov - and we were charged for the appetizers. Different ship - different rules??

szdiver Posted December 26, 2004 #11 Share Posted December 26, 2004 Depending on when your party is, you could always run upstairs and "pick up" a few things from the buffet lines. There is always food and snacks available if you look around. Personally, we have never had a charge for our parties. A little extra tip helps, even though not required. Peggy Sue Posted December 27, 2004 #12 Share Posted December 27, 2004 we hosted a party last month in our suite on the Volendam. Arranged everything with Rollie - Concierge / Neptune - Hot and Cold apps for 8 were delivered with a smile. Rollie brought in the plates, napkins, silverware, etc. and had arranged for glasses and extra ice to be delivered to our suite. With the exception of the wine we ordered, no charge for any of the other services. (of course, we tipped)
