Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. You can have your passport withheld: Most importantly, there are several legal reasons a passport application could get denied. If you owe money on child support, you’re ineligible for a passport, even if you fill everything out correctly. All money has to be paid through the appropriate state agency before you can submit the application. Another financial aspect comes with a defaulted loans. If you’ve failed to make payments on a loan from the Department of State you would need to pay it off before sending in your application. Certain court orders, being convicted of a felony, or if you’re wanted on an arrest warrant, can also result in a passport denial. A convicted felon you would also need to check with their parole office before applying for a passport. Passports and Seriously Delinquent Tax Debt If the Secretary of the Treasury informs us that you have seriously delinquent tax debt, we cannot issue a U.S. passport to you. In addition, we may revoke your current U.S. passport. Seriously delinquent tax debt is your unpaid, legally enforceable federal tax debt (includes interest and penalties). If you are overseas, you may be eligible for a limited-validity passport which can be used for direct return to the United States. Contact the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to resolve your debt before applying for a passport. If you do not resolve your tax issues before applying for a passport, your application will be delayed or denied. If you have seriously delinquent tax debt and have already applied for a new U.S. passport, we cannot issue a new passport to you until you have resolved your tax issues with the IRS. Child Support Payments If you owe $2,500 or more in child support, you are not eligible to receive a U.S. passport. Pay your child support arrears to the appropriate state child support enforcement agency before applying for your passport. If You've Already Applied for your Passport Make arrangements to pay your child support arrears with the appropriate state child support enforcement agency. The state agency reports to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that you've made acceptable payment arrangements. HHS removes your name from their list and reports this to us. This may take 2-3 weeks. We verify that HHS removed your name. We process your passport application.
  2. Funny I thought it was a new class for passengers, I was thinking much cheaper, like third class.
  3. They would be very happy with an extra 100 for sure.
  4. The Canadian "customs" should have a line for people not leaving the airport. If you look at your flight for a closer date you should be able to see your gates to get a feel for the distances. Just remember the gate today does not mean it will be the same in 6 months. Canadian customs for me has always been interesting, they always seem to be very suspicious even though I am just catching a flight to Europe. One time coming back we were just staying at a hotel near the airport due to flight times. The person from Customs wanted to know why we did not plan to go out at all. We explained we were just going to crash and probably order in some food. Going out and not leaving the airport they still asked a lot of questions. Just my 2 cents.
  5. I have seen people on a TA bring a lot more that 2 bags they are using the cruise to vacation in Florida for the whole winter then take a spring TA back to Europe. The cruise is a little more than a flight but with the extra baggage cost it could easily be a wash as far as cost. I think also you are looking at a UK and US site possibly.
  6. Well with everyone having a free drink package having fewer bartenders lowers the cost. 🙂
  7. You can also wash some stuff in your sink Detergent sheet ratings
  8. I would talk to them if not book a 2nd person for free and have them be a no show, 🙂
  9. Did you pay the rate for 2 people, you "should" get the points in my opinion.
  10. This from the FAA site Electric wheelchair, mobility scooter In cases when the batteries are adequately protected, it is preferable that they remain installed in the mobility aid; however, there may be situations when that is not possible or safe to do so and in these cases the batteries must be removed. This description is for a wheelchair or mobility device that does not have a protective housing for its lithium ion battery, i.e., the mobility aid does not provide adequate protection to the battery. Lithium ion battery size is limited to 300 watt hours (Wh). One spare battery not exceeding 300 Wh or two spare batteries not exceeding 160 Wh each may be carried in carry-on baggage. I get the feeling if you needed to you could have 2x200 Wh batteries that you connected together as long as no one person passed both thru security or whatever at the same time 🙂
  11. I have done about 6 TAs but don't recall one in Miami, firs.t of getting the ship cleared can take a while as the whole crew usually has to go thru immigration. The start time can be delayed, I have always walked off with our luggage and have had lines of about 20-30 minutes going thru immigration, customs has been a courtesy at the most. Do not appear to be in a rush, you are not coming from a known drug country so it should be pretty simple. If you are going to travel much out of the country get a credit card that offers a decent sign up bonus and offers global entry, use the card to pay for your cruise and then do the Global Entry Signup, it is so easy when we came back from one cruise I wanted to declare an item but did not even see the customs people/line.
  12. I look at the last time it was refurbished, I prefer an older smaller ship but if it has been more than 3 years since it was refurbished they are either going to get rid of the ship or it it going for a major refurb in the next year and they are putting off any repairs or changes.
  13. I would pick the top so that no one can look down on my balcony.
  14. You should be able to see the NCL tours by now, the islands are nice and i found this if you want to see about local tours: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/profile/673759-amevola/ We have just booked a panoramic tour of Tenerife with Spain Day Tours. We used them in October 2022 for our Beyond TA both before and during our cruise. Here is the link to read more about it: https://www.spaindaytours.com/spain-shore-excursions/tenerife-shore-excursion/ You can read more about the company as well We took the opposite TA a year ago and it was a lot of fun, but I really do not like sailing East due to the time changes.
  15. I have to disagree with the HOHO bus we usually take the bus all the way around and then decided where we want to stop on the next round, it allows us great flexibility, also some offer free wifi too!
