Good afternoon all. Lovely sunshine today and 18c (68f) on my outdoor thermometer. Weather app is calling it 13c or 59f @Cruzin Terrihugs to you for having to make a difficult decision. @rafinmdwell, I am finally going to see Come FRom Away. It returns to Toronto in September for a couple of weeks run at the royal alexandra theatre. I chose an October 2 matinee so I can take an early train up and the last train home. Excited to finally see the play but also looking forward to the train ride! I love trains. The theatre is a 7 minute walk from union station. ah Cole slaw. I bought a new mandolin slicer from cusinart and am finally getting the cabbage sliced thin enough. I use a simple oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, pinch of sugar. We enjoy coleslaw even more now that it is sliced thinly! It got us thru this wild spike in romaine prices over the last couple of weeks. For two weeks Costco didn’t even stock it. It’s back but 7.99 for the six pack, better than $10 for the six pack! I can’t wait until the garden starts producing vegetables. We grow a lot of lettuce. prayers for those that need them and a celebratory shout out to those cruising or otherwise celebrating.

We had to turn the furnace back on yesterday since it was quite chilly. Will leave it on for a few more days until we warm up more. I hung my laundry out yesterday. Fingers were frozen by the time I was done. It did dry well since we had a breeze. have a good day everyone

Good day to all. Sunny, temps at 12c (57f) but the wind is chilly. We had some rain overnight so I spent some time in the flower beds removing weeds. I have a kneeler with bars on the side, otherwise not sure how I would get up. Our pansies are planted. To paraphrase bob ross, they are such happy little flowers. Leeks are planted in the garden both here and at one of the DD’s. Garlic is looking lovely. We are officially out of garden garlic and I need to pick some up at Costco. It has been Canadian or American garlic so far so we’ll see where there current supply is from. I refuse to buy Chinese garlic. for Sunday dinner at the other DD’s house I will be making leek and potato soup to use up some of our frozen leeks. My DSIL will make fresh bread for us. He has bread baking down to an art. here’s hoping that @kazuhas a good flight to her cruise and that Maurice @ger_77can get a date soon. Nothing more frustrating than waiting. The problem was the provinces couldn’t decide on how amendments would be handled and yes, it took an abnormally long time to finally repatriate it!

Rainy start to the day but not expecting storms like parts of USA are. @StLouisCruiserswe didn’t get a new constitution in 1982, we brought ours home. Until then the British parliament was responsible for any amendments. We did get a new charter of rights and freedoms. @kazui so hope the doctor can help you and will allow you to cruise. I know you are looking forward to this cruise. well, for awhile it looked like our Red Wings would make the playoffs. Two exciting games, back to back with the Habs but not enough to get them in. NO Rhubarb for me. Can you tell I really don’t like it? well, we have a baby in our extended family. My DSIL’s niece had a little baby girl yesterday, 5 weeks early. She is well but will stay in the NICU for a few more days for observation. The nice thing is they are letting the mother stay in hospital too at least until they need the bed. This is actually a good thing as the bathroom and kitchen at their house are being renovated. Job will be done in early may which was ok for the original due date of May 22. Her name is Laine Alanna. Once I get a picture I will post for the group. The mother calls us Oma and Opa (we have known her for over 20 years and she called us this as a child) so I guess we are sort of honorary Uhr Oma and Uhr Opa (great grandparents). DH had a 1969 candy apple red mustang convertible when we got married. We drive to Florida for our honeymoon in September of 1970. He couldn’t get time off work before then. prayers for those that need them and a shout out to those celebrating

Scrabble day-haven’t played in a few years but my most memorable game was one Christmas playing with two nieces and a nephew where we allowed words in English, German, and French. That was fun. well, I broke my own schedule today. I deep cleaned the master bedroom so started at the back, again! But in my Defense I decided to replace the flannel sheets with the cotton sheets so all that flannel dust had to be dealt with. Took me a couple of hours. Now I only have the drawers left to sort thru. Resting now and having an early lunch before a tackle the rest of the house, but only superficially today! @atexsixmy condolences. Hard to lose a parent at any age and you were a good carer to your father. Before you buy anything check with the funeral home because they can do wonders with things. As you said they charge enough. Our funeral home was so helpful last may when my father passed away quite suddenly. prayers for all who need them and a shoutout to those celebrating it cruising.

Sandi, I have had a persistent cough since before COVID. I had a terrible cold one November that settled in my chest and I started coughing after that. Most annoying as you know and it was especially so during COVID. I had endoscopys, VQlung scans, X-rays, breathing tests with a pulmonologist, allergy testing, and probably something else over the years. No one had an idea, or rather there were several ideas none of them the reason, like post nasal drip. Every doctor wanted to change my high blood pressure meds but I resisted since I was pretty sure they were not the cause. The allergist came the closest - he suspected my GERD was the culprit. So I did a couple of things. I stopped drinking, especially wine. I watch what I eat so I don’t trigger my GERD and I stopped drinking club soda and tonic water. I had suspected that one of the components in the Soda was triggering my cough. I also gargled with salt water each evening for two weeks. I am happy to report that after almost 5 years I am coughing no more than a normal person. Sorry for the long post but maybe something in this ramble can help you. I know how frustrating it is to be coughing all the time. And I have been able to have the occasional glass of wine in the last couple of weeks without triggering a cough. everyone else, please forgive the detailed post!

Rainy day here and rain predicted each day for the rest of the week. Good day to curl up with a book. But I will sort thru my pantry as a start to my spring cleaning. I used to start at the back of the house (bedroom) and work my way to the kitchen, these days I start in the kitchen, then the bathroom because if I leave it to last I don’t give it the full attention the kitchen needs. I cook or bake every day so it is a well used room. What I used to do in two days now takes more than a week as I only do one area a day. And the house is just under 1000 sq ft so not big.

My sister and I. No, we didn’t have a pony but there were itinerant photographers who went round with a pony and took and sold pictures. I am surprised my parents took advantage because money was tight so this would have been an extravagance. Our mother often dressed us alike but we are 13 months apart. My sister and I are having lunch together tomorrow. And I got a really nice text from my DSIL in Germany regarding sisters. All 3 of my DSILs are like sisters to me. first and last time for me on a horse!

A friend just reminded me that today is Vimy Ridge day. If you like historical fiction I can recommend “the stone carvers” by Jane urquhart, a Canadian writer.

Good morning. Anniversary and birthday greetings going out to those celebrating. Posting early today since we will be without power from 9 am to 1 pm for work on our section of the grid here in the city. So I am off grocery shopping shortly to an unaffected portion of the city. I do hope we are back on by 1 pm since we invited friends for dinner and I am making a slow roasted leg of lamb that needs to go in by 1 pm. I prepped everything else, except the mashed potatoes, yesterday. another beautiful morning here but rain moving in later today and supposedly hanging around the rest of the week.
