We were in Ft Lauderdale 2 days before Ian hit Ft. Myers. we had got off Allure on Sunday and generally stay a day or 2 before flying home. We knew Ian was coming on Friday when on ship. We could not get an earlier flight home, everything was booked solid so we stayed put at Hyatt Place. It rained on and off all day Monday. Tuesday also but as we left for the airport about 3pm rain and wind was spotty. Our fight was 6.00 and as bad luck would have it they did close down the airport for about 3 hours. Huge wave of rain and wind. No planes in or out. We finally got out about 10.00 pm. Lots of people had fled from the west coast to the east coast.

Valutrips.com for Hyatt Place se 10th st, just off of 17 th. st. May- Nov rooms are 109 a night and 119 a night depending on day of the week. We are staying there this coming May 18, 19, 30, 31 for our 10 day Princess cruise. Have used VT many times in the past for great discounts.

Highly doubt anything in April near the port will be $200. May 1st. is when all the rates go down considerably. $119 a night thru V.T. for Hyatt Place, I would check on Trivago.

Too many thing can go wrong, been there done that, this is why we stay an extra day. No worries.

Both are very nice and we prefer Hyatt Place. They are the most accomodating, friendly, never had an issue. Plus it is closer to Duffy's, and a few other places we like to eat at. We sign up for a shuttle and come down to meet it about 5-10 min before departure. Never felt cramped staying there.

Hyatt Place has always got us in a room when there is one available. Usually 12-1 at the latest. They will hold your bags and text you when they have one ready. We head over to Duffy's sports bar for lunch and drinks. Duffy's has 2 for 1 drinks all day every day.
