santrah Posted April 29, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2012 I appreciate that gratuities are included within the fare, however for service such as room service etc is it acceptable whilst sailing in the Med to tip in Euros rather than dollars. I'm British and tend to gave a good supply of Euro coins. If I need dollars is it easy to obtain smaller denominations?. Thanks.
Rare uktog Posted April 29, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 29, 2012 If the ship is to be in Europe for a time, then the crew will appreciate any extra small tips in Euros as this gives them spending money in port. They also appreciate dollars, so the choice is whatever works best for you
ikelmay Posted April 29, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 29, 2012 I would imagine from a logistical point of view, tips in euros would be a better option while the ship is based in europe. If crew members are purchasing locally, they have to change dollars to euros, and if they save the money and then wire it back home, then a euro-local currency transaction would be more efficient than a dollar-euro-local currency transaction. santrah Posted April 29, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted April 29, 2012 Thank you for your prompt replies. I will be on Quest in August, the ship is there for some time. So I shall use Euros.
