stacycakes1 Posted March 26, 2012 Author #227 Share Posted March 26, 2012 After Sitting in the sun for a while we were hungry and decided to go get some lunch out on deck 5. There was a big outdoor BBQ for everyone and it looked fantastic! We stacked up our plates with burgers salads and a bunch of other great side dishes and found a table to eat our goodies. After that we thought it would be nice to go up to the serenity deck for a while and then needed to head over to the spa for our couples massage! The serenity deck has these AMAZING lounge chairs that are round and like big beds! It is basically impossible to snag one but we were lucky and found one open. There are two hot tubs in this area and you can also order food from a minimal menu at the two bars. Basically, they give you no reason to ever have to leave. This is also a "kids free" zone and they were very good about adhering to this rule. At one point we saw a few little kids come in with their parents and they were immediately ushered out. The parents got a little mad but the waiter who sent them out showed them the Adult Only sign and there really was no room to argue. We also saw some kids sneak in and even make it as far as the hot tub but were asked to leave pretty quickly. Here are some pics of the serenity deck area… Paul Relaxing... stacycakes1 Posted March 26, 2012 Author #229 Share Posted March 26, 2012 After relaxing for a bit in the serenity area we went to the spa for our couples massage. The spa is very nice on this ship and the couples massage room is beautiful. I actually get massages quite frequently through my chiropractor's office so this was more of a treat for my DH who never gets one. After Our couples massage we took advantage of our Cloud 9 spa package which included the special pool and the sauna rooms. I did not take any photos of the couples massage room or the spa/sauna areas but did find some online for those of you interested in seeing this area of the ship. THESE WERE NOT TAKEN BY ME BUT FOUND ON GOOGLE PICTURES!!!! Couples Massage Room, Cloud 9 Spa Thelasso Pool, Cloud 9 Spa Steam room with heated tile Chairs, Cloud 9 Spa Dry Sauna room with heated tile chairs, Cloud 9 Spa Steam room facing front of the boat, Cloud 9 Spa (This was a great place to sit and relax with the best view) Heated Chairs outside of Thelasso Pool Area, Cloud 9 Spa

stacycakes1 Posted March 26, 2012 Author #231 Share Posted March 26, 2012 After our relaxing time in the spa we decided to head back to our room to shower and get ready for elegant night!!! We were going to meet Courtney and Randy for dinner and wanted enough time to spiffy up a bit and to take a fancy ship picture. I do have to say that my dress did not feel as flattering by the end of the week as it had in the beginning (so much food) but that was okay. So we were finally ready and headed out to take our photo. We really try to pick a background that isn't so "cheese factor" and chose a plain white background. They definitely come up with some pretty interesting ideas for backgrounds on these ships though! We usually take a few funny ones just for laughs throughout the week (like Paul throwing me overboard on a gondola in Venice, wish we had purchased it) but there is only room for serious pictures on elegant night! Here is one of the pics… After getting our picture taken we headed out to meet up with our cruise buddies. Dinner that night was fantastic and we got to sit in our favorite waiters section, Gerrard! We had encountered Gerrard previously that week a few times and he was always the life of the party. In order to sit in his section there is usually a wait but for some reason there wasn't one this night which was great! Every night he dresses up as some crazy character. He also has the Michael Jackson thing down pretty cold and would do some great dances during the "showtime" every evening. Here are some pics from dinner that evening! Randy had the Lobster for dinner. I think he ended up having THREE orders! Gerrard just kept bringing them!!!! I had the Poblano pepper and an order of the Prime Rib (not shown), yummy! We also had some stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer...
stacycakes1 Posted March 26, 2012 Author #232 Share Posted March 26, 2012 Gerrard as Michael Jackson/Police Officer??? And Gerrard as.... Well I think some kind of crazy cricket player, not sure??? Me and Gerrard... My babe...
stacycakes1 Posted March 26, 2012 Author #233 Share Posted March 26, 2012 After dinner it was time for some drinks at the Red Frog Pub!!! We took a few pictures of our time here this night! There are these really cool swing hammock tables outside the pub! Courtney and I got some yummy blue drinks, can't remember there name... And the boys got the Red Frog Pub's own beer... stacycakes1 Posted March 26, 2012 Author #234 Share Posted March 26, 2012 Pic of the outside door... After some drinks we went and changed before we headed to our last comedy show for the evening! Tomorrow we would be leaving the Magic (boo hoo) and would be spending one last day in Barcelona. After the comedy show we decided to take a stroll around the Lido deck. We hadn't done that yet and wanted to before we left. There is something so great about standing at the front of the ship with the wind practically blowing you over and all the bright stars above! Then we said our goodbyes to our new friends and spent the rest of the evening on our deck drinking wine. It was a fantastic day at sea and a great way to end this amazing cruise! stacycakes1 Posted March 26, 2012 Author #235 Share Posted March 26, 2012 Well all good things must come to an end and this was it for the Carnival Magic. I know I did not talk much about the Magic but she is a beautiful ship full of amazing things! There wasn't one bad experience on her and I would sail on the Magic again in a heartbeat! We had gotten up that morning and packed. We are "do it yourselfers" so we didn't have to pack the night before. Once packed and ready to go we headed out for one last breakfast up on the lido deck. We really took out time this morning because the lines were pretty long to leave. At around 9:30am we were ready to go and we said our goodbyes to the beauty of the Magic. Once off board we found our hotel's shuttle bus stop. There were quite a few people waiting and the hotel shuttle madness began again. After waiting about an hour we got on the shuttle and made our way back to the Marriott. When we got there check-in was just not possible that early in the morning but they were gracious enough to take all of our information (credit card info, etc.) as if we were checking and tagging our bags. They would hold them until our room was ready and then deliver them to the room so they were there when we got back that afternoon. Once that was all taken care of we hopped on a shuttle that was taking people to and from Las Ramblas. We were starved at this point and found a great restaurant in the square to eat at. Here are some pics from our lunch that day… We started it with a pitcher of Sangria... The last time we would have some yummy fresh bread!
stacycakes1 Posted March 26, 2012 Author #236 Share Posted March 26, 2012 Really do LOVE Sangria! Paul had a Chicken and Ham dish... I had a HUGE burger! Next we strolled around some of the side streets and did a little bit of shopping...

stacycakes1 Posted March 26, 2012 Author #238 Share Posted March 26, 2012 After spending a little more time downtown we realized we were exhausted! So we decided to catch the 4:00pm shuttle back to the hotel. We realized there was a wait for this and waited in line for our turn. When it was time to board we had our first, and only, experience with a rude person. The gentlemen that was rude was an American. As we were about to get on the shuttle he yelled "excuse me" and then cut me and my DH off and ushered his family on before us and took up the last seats available (he actually cut quite a few people waiting in line too). He turned to us and said we have kids so we get to go first. To be honest, if he had just asked I would have gladly waited and let them go ahead of us because I understand how hard it can sometimes be with tired kids, but the way he did it was SO rude. Then he said to me, oh sorry you're pregnant and have to wait!!!!! By the way, I am NOT pregnant and you just cut us in line and made us wait an hour for the next shuttle! Anyway, we just went and got gelatos and sat on the curb to wait for the next shuttle but it really did kind of get to me how rude that man was and then I kept thinking about why he thought I looked pregnant (I still don't get it, you've seen pics of me)??? Paul kept reassuring me I looked great and to not let one person ruin my day and he was so right! We finally got on the next shuttle and were so ready to just go to our room and watch a movie in bed. And that is exactly what we did. I think we watched two that evening and we also ordered room service. It was so nice to just lie around and sleep. We felt bad later for missing the opportunity to explore more of Barcelona but that night was MUCH needed. The next morning we would be leaving to go back homeL
stacycakes1 Posted March 26, 2012 Author #239 Share Posted March 26, 2012 So our wonderful trip is over! We got up early this morning and headed to the airport for our flight home. We would have a layover in Amsterdam for two hours but otherwise very uneventful! I truly enjoyed writing and sharing this with all of you. Please continue to post any questions you may have regarding a Mediterranean cruise on here or feel free to contact me. I researched this trip for over a year and looked into almost every possibility out there and ma here to help. I will leave you with one last picture. This one is of me and Paul at our wedding mimicking our favorite "Cheesy" professional Carnival picture! As a matter of fact, my sister and her husband have one just like it for their last Carnival cruise framed and hanging on their wall at home with him "fake" playing the piano and her staring at him lovingly. Thanks again for all of the lovely comments and I hope you are all having a wonderful day!
Rare chasinraynbowz Posted March 26, 2012 #240 Share Posted March 26, 2012 (edited) Thanks so much!!! I thoroughly enjoyed your review!! We ran into 2 rude people during our time there. One American who tried to push my 70 year old mother out of an elevator and a spanish woman who beat up a poor man as he was exiting the elevator on our ship... lol. Wow. Again, thanks for taking the time to post your review and your pictures. Makes me want to go back and do it all again!!!! PS - You are NOT fat and don't look pregnant. He was ignorant. TheTravelista Posted March 26, 2012 #241 Share Posted March 26, 2012 I'm so sad the review is over :( Stacey it was great! You've helped me so much! I'm planning a trip to Italy next year (land based) and was kind of bummed about going all the way to Europe and not being able to see Paris again. The Air France layover program is perfect!! I'm also going to be purchasing the passes you used while you were there. So thank you for all the info you shared. This is such a lovely picture: You two are such a beautiful couple! Oh and you do NOT look pregnant. I absolutely loved the understated fashion porn. You are officially Queen of the Sundress lol! Amazing review, thanks for taking the time to write such detailed entries. You're gonna have to take another cruise soon just so you can come back and write another review ;)

GRAMMYTAN Posted March 26, 2012 #246 Share Posted March 26, 2012 Thank you so much for taking time to share with us Stacy. The pics were great as was your narrative. You are NOT fat, nor do you look pregnant. He was an ignorant A$$ who makes people in other countries call of us "Ugly Americans." Loved your sundresses too. I hope that you and Paul have many wonderful, happy and fun-filled years together. We are about to celebrate our 45th anniversary with a third Med cruise in October. Hope you get to celebrate your 45th there.
jennb Posted March 26, 2012 #247 Share Posted March 26, 2012 Stacey, So loved your review. We are doing a similar trip in August on the Breeze! I noticed your DH had on longer shorts in most pictures - was that ok with the Vatican or any of the other churches? My DH lives in shorts and I would love to think he could wear longer shorts and get by! Also, you wore great sundresses, too. Any problems with bare shoulders? Any hints would be appreciated. We have 2 RIL tours booked for Rome and Florence - so excited!! Thanks, Jennifer
jakeHOU97 Posted March 27, 2012 #248 Share Posted March 27, 2012 Yes, actually I believe it was James Charlton. We actually had sailed with him prior to this cruise when he was Jen Baxter's assistant on the Legend. He was great, definitely no complaints from us, just wish it had been John because I think he is the man! I've never understood why people give him such a hard time.... Is James now upgraded from assistant to director? If so good for him! I think so. He is really is awesome and I 'kind of' met him when he and his wife/girlfriend/fiancee sat next to me at a show one night.
