Barcelona Port-bus T3?

Price for Port bus is 2€ One-way and 3€ Round Trip.

Round Trip ticket is only valid for the same day or you can use it 7 days later when you return from cruise?

gtgeorge, I am not positive, but I believe the ticket needs to be used the same day.

For those researching this bus: the first time I went, HAL provided free shuttles (we were quite far away). The next 2 times, we were at the main area and the aforementioned bus was used. We were not informed of a day ticket and those of us who purchased one-ways were not allowed to retroactively upgrade. So those who need a day ticket must ask for it.

There is some variance depending on your cruise line. Also keep in mind that if the port is full of cruise ships some ships can be docked in areas other then the main cruise ship terminal area. That being said lets talk about getting from the normal cruise ship area into town. You have multiple options. Most cruise lines will run a shuttle bus service from the outside the terminal building into town (the drop point is usually across from the Ramblas. Some lines provide the shuttle for free and others charge various fees such as $5 one-way. In our experience there can often be long lines for these buses and we have known folks to sometimes wait over 30 min before they can even get on a bus!

But there are several other options. There are also usually taxis which will make the quick ride across the bridge into town. A shared taxi (with 4 persons) will usually be even cheaper then the shuttle bus!

There is also a public bus that runs right along the road opposite the cruise ship terminals. I am not sure of the current fare (it should be no more then 2€) and this is an option for anyone.

And lastly there is our favorite method which is to simply walk from the ship into town :). For those that enjoy walking this is a nice stroll. You leave the port, head over the bridge (there are safe sidewalks on either side of the bridge) to town. We enjoy the view on the bridge, and given the oft long lines for shuttles we are often in town before those waiting for a bus. If you are a fast walker it will take about 25 min to get from ship to the base of the Ramblas.

When we disembark we need to be at Estación de Francia to catch our train. I also believe that the best option is taxi but the problem is that we are a family of 5 and we will need 2 taxis. So I thought that if we take the port bus to Plaza Colon and then walk to the train station.

There are larger taxis that can take 5 people although you may have to wait longer for one to become available.

Weekdays after 8am it would be about €15-20. A larger taxi for 5-6 people is an extra €3.10

Before 8am and at weekends it would cost slightly more

Agree if going to the station a taxi is the best bet. In the interests of saving time we would readily use 2 taxis if necessary. Waiting at the port for a larger van/taxi is iffy at best. And there is often a queue at the port (for taxis) so once you get to the head of the line you should probably take whatever your can get :)

There is a basic charge of €2.10 for just getting in the taxi, €3.10 charge for leaving the port, €4 for suitcases (assuming 4 cases between you). This is €9.20 before you go anywhere. This is why the taxi sounds expensive for a short distance.

I think they are now actually charging 4.20 port departure or arrival fee, 2.10 train station departure or arrival fee and the 2.10 just for getting in the taxi. Add this along with baggage, time and distance and the price goes up quickly.

This would be 12.40 just in surcharges and fees along with the 4 euro for distance and 2+ euro for the time of journey. So, 18.40+ would be a good minimum estimate.

With all these fees it would make it more worth any wait for the large taxi with just the 2.10 additional supplement.

Speaking of walking ..Can you walk to Barcelona beach from where the cruise ship docks? We are on NCL EPIC. If so, How long would it take? could you please provide directions?

Epic is at Terminal A. from there you have to walk past terminal A and B and after terminal B there is a round-a-bout where you enter the viaduct up to the bridge. That is about a 45 minute + walk just to the Colon monument at about 3.1 kilometers.

If you were then to walk over to 'Barceloneta' beach area you are looking at another 2.5 kilometers at about 30 additional minutes.

Taking the port bus T3 for 10 minutes and 2 euro and then transferring to the D20 local bus at 2.15 euro will have you there in less than 20 minutes versus the one hour 15 minute walk.
