warning in St Kitts?

We just got back from a Royal Caribbean cruise with a stop in St Kitts. While having breakfast in the main dining room, one of the crew stopped a the table and gave us a warning about that previous passengers had gotten sick after buying water from vendors while in port. She explained that some times the bottle was opened and refilled with contaminated water and sometimes they inject something into the bottle that makes the person ill after drinking it. We were not sure if she was just trying to sell extra water from the ship or if these accounts were true, so we all bought the water on the ship.

has anyone else hear of this? thoughts?

It seems like a crazy and sick rumor. We have been going to and staying on St Kitts for years (since 1989) and have never had issues with the water. The local tap water is safe as well is the locally bottled water.
