How to just walk around Atlantis for a Day

This is our first cruise. . .

What is an inexpensive way to just walk around Atlantis and purchase a drink or 2? Our family has been to Atlantis for a week and has already experienced the waterpark and all Atlantis has to offer. Loved it!!!!! We would like to go back just to walk around and take some updated family pics that we took 5 years ago. We are only there for 1 day. Also, we may go to the Cove, if possible. I was hoping I didn't have to pay for an excursion for my family of 5 just to walk around.

Thanks for any suggestions.

You can walk around the casino (without kids). You can walk around the marina village.

we went over there a couple years ago and everything else but these two things mentioned, was blocked off. The Marina Village is shops and food.

If you're a walker (like us) it's not a bad walk from the cruise ship to Atlantis. It's about 2 miles and 40 minutes. We just google mapped it, and basically walked along the waterfront, over the bridge and headed to the public beach to the right of the Riu resort. From the beach head left to go onto the public beach in front of Atlantis. We were able to go up to the first bar at Atlantis and have a drink and explore a little bit of the property. You can also go thru the hotel lobby and hit another bar or two or the casino if you'd like. Heading back we hit the Green Parrot Bar which was on the harbor before walking over the bridge and back to the ship.

You can no longer enter the public beach via the pathway by the RIU. The entry point is a mile up the road. You ca no longer enter Atlantis from the beach. Security has been stepped up.

If you are going to use the casino, then fine, if not.. choose something else.

If you just want to see some of Atlantis and get some pictures, it can be done. We were at Atlantis this past week during our stop on the Valor. We took the water taxi over to Paradise Island, walked through the shopping village, walked through the parts of Atlantis we could get to without a wrist band and were able to take enough pictures and get enough feel for the resort to satisfy us. We were not allowed to get to the waterpark area to take pictures. We did walk to the public beach next door, then got a cab back to downtown, did some shopping and had lunch before heading back to the ship with time to spare.

We did not feel it was worth purchasing a wristband since we only had about 4 1/2 hours before we would have had to head back to the ship. They did have the waterpark wristband discounted to $ 99.00 the day we were there, so it may be worth it to some at that discounted price.
