We are going to Alaska in August and have a lot in OBC, do excursions sell out?:confused: Looking at doing Best of Skagway and White pass Railway

Nobody is going to be able to predict sales for excursions. Some cruises they will sell out, some they won't. White Pass Railroad is a limited capacity situation, so I would be worried about that one.

My wife and I did this tour twice on two separate trips to Alaska. It was a great tour, and we had a blast. The show at Liarsville was hilarious although some people do not like it. I would go straight to the shore excursions desk on board the ship and book it then. It did not sell out either time we went on it. The salmon bake lunch was my wife's favorite part. After the saloon, just walk around town instead of getting on the bus back to the dock.

I recently visited this and wish I had done it prior to cruising. So I suggest you do it before you cruise if you have time. Juneau - Alaska's State Capitol City - If you have time to visit the Capitol building, do. • I booked the Best of Skagway the night before on a HAL ship back in 2012.... that tour did not sell out.
  
• excess onboard credits? photos, internet, dining and excursions are my weaknesses.

Call them, don't book online and you can use your OBC that way.

The train will most likely be available when you board even if you don't book early because they run so many trains every day.

I would suspect that the best of Skagway would also be available because of the nature of the tour.

I called on Monday of this week to book shore excursions thinking I could have them bill to my on board account that way based on what I had read here on CC. Since I don't have actual shore excursion credits to use I had to pay upfront. I will have $200 OBC to be credited to my account first day aboard. I booked the things I know we don't want to miss, and will figure out later what we want to use our OBC for. Maybe come up with something for Victoria other than exploring on our own.
