Sheltieluv Posted June 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2017 Hi all. We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan Midtown West, 538 West 48th St., for one night before departing on the Regent Navigator on October 29. I need your advice/suggestions for a place to get a good authentic NY pizza--some slices will suffice--:p and also an Irish pub within walking distance of the hotel if possible. We have never been in the area, and since we're only there for one afternoon and one night, I don't want to be wandering around and wasting time. Locals know best! Thanks for your help! Rare markeb Posted June 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2017 Personal pizza preference is John's, 44th between Broadway and 8th Avenue, so shouldn't be that far for you. Pretty sure there are (multiple) Irish pubs along 8th Avenue in that area, but I'm usually staying Midtown East, not West. (John's motto is "No Slices"; I'll leave that to a New Yorker, but there does seem to be a bias between whole pie places and slice places...) Langoustine Posted June 12, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 12, 2017 There are hundreds of "Irish" pubs in NYC, and some of them have actually seen an Irish person in them. There is an authentic one near you (opened in 1868), the Landmark Tavern at 626 11th Avenue (at 46th Street).
George C Posted June 12, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 12, 2017 Irish bars are on almost every block, for pizza we love Angelo's on 53 and Broadway, went there twice in last 2 weeks great pizza and antipasto, not far from your hotel, pizza is not by the slice here
