shoreguy Posted August 9, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 9, 2005 Did anyone read this? Why hasn't it been posted yet?!? The Jewel has a "clothing optional" sundeck ;) http://www.cruise-community.com/ShowStory.asp?ID=7978 It was posted :) I wonder with some of the things they did with this ship if the intent all along was to use the Jewel to reposition NCL in Europe again. shoreguy Posted August 9, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2005 Yes, I saw the pic, BUT I wasn't aware that it was clothing optional :D This link was posted about six weeks ago that included "and the adults-only Freestyle Sundeck occupies a private location forward on Deck 15." http://www.7blueseas.com/cruiselines/ship.asp?id=139&page=1 I believe there was discussion on the thread that compared the Jewel and the Dawn. I think Splatitudes started it.

newmexicoNita Posted August 9, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 9, 2005 I sure missed it: as for me, I don't think my body and I would do too well on the clothing optional deck and I can guarantee you DH will not even know about this. LOL

LOL Not sure it is going to get much business on our Transatlantic in Sept. I will have to check it out just for the CC members. I will post pictures :D :D

weloverunning Posted August 10, 2005 #12 Share Posted August 10, 2005 Can anyone who has already been on the Jewel verify there is a clothing-optional sundeck? We have cruised on Carnival too many times just because they have a topless deck. (Some cruisers never even knew it exists) We are booked on the Jewel in November and January. Shore Girl Posted August 10, 2005 Author #15 Share Posted August 10, 2005 Can anyone who has already been on the Jewel verify there is a clothing-optional sundeck? Well the website that I've linked in the OP is reputable! And NCL has advertised the sundeck as 'Adults Only'...
Dolphins Posted August 10, 2005 #16 Share Posted August 10, 2005 I suspect the decision to have such a sun deck on the Jewel has something to do with the fact she will be sailing in Europe every summer.
weloverunning Posted August 10, 2005 #17 Share Posted August 10, 2005 :( I just called NCL. After being on hold while Linda researched the subject for quite a long time, she came back with a consensus that indeed there is NOT a c/o sundeck on the Jewel. Hopefully, she is wrong. I told her if I get arrested for nude sunbathing on the ship, its all Shore Girl's fault. :)
AmyinVail Posted August 10, 2005 #18 Share Posted August 10, 2005 Well, if it's anything like Carnival's sun deck - forget it. March 2004 we sailed the brand new Miracle (BIL's idea, not mine, ugh) and tried out the sundeck. Gross - I can't tell you how many men "wondered" up to that desk "lost" It wasn't even relaxing. Granted, you ask for some attention when lying out topless, but it was pretty ridiculous. No, it was actually creepy as some men would sit down and "read a book" and stare.... unfortunately one does not read a book looking away from it. Anyway, I've given up on sundecks. Perhaps cruisng Europe w/ a more European passender demo would be better!

I'm going to search NCL's Press Releases on the Jewel to see if they say anything!

snorklinbarb Posted August 10, 2005 #22 Share Posted August 10, 2005 The official word from the ship is that topless sunbathing is allowed there.
greenie Posted August 11, 2005 #23 Share Posted August 11, 2005 Well, at least now we know that if any of the "lurkers" who pretend to read a book are, um, butt-men (or women), they will be disappointed. :D
seahorse Posted August 11, 2005 #24 Share Posted August 11, 2005 The official word from the ship is that topless sunbathing is allowed there. So then there is no reason for men to go there ..........right?
