RCI to Asia July 2015

Hi Everyone. We're looking at cruises to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary in July 2015. As it's memorable date we wanted to travel further afield than Europe and particularly wanted Asia. Obviously, we appreciate that July/August isn't everyone's ideal time for lots of Asian locations so there seems to be very few to choose from. The one that's caught our eye was RCI's Honk Kong round-trip calling at Xiamen, Nagasaki and Jenju. Does anybody have any advice/recommendations for ANY of these destinations, including HK, especially considering the time of year. I know about the temperatures/humidity which will be ok with us and I also know it's officially the typhoon season but enough HK residents on other forums and websites have put our minds at rest over this.

While it's nice to be able to travel exactly on your anniversary date...we have found that at times we have to vary the timing to get the trip we actually want...so many things to usually consider.

Best of luck and happy anniversary.

Happy Anniversary. I agree that sometimes it is better to celebrate at home and cruise when convenient or itinerary is convenient. August 16 for us and when we taught it seemed that was gear up for classes time so usually went slightly before.

China is lovely and the river cruise is very nice and available year round. Can add private tour of Beijing and perhaps the Terra Cotta Soldiers which are amazing. Many companies can put something together for you in the month of August if that is what you want. Main line cruises tend to do summer cruises in Baltic/Europe/Greece etc. and don't forget Alaska. That is why Asian cruises happen more in winter months -- ships are available or doing world cruises in that part of the world. Not anything to do with Asian weather.

Be slightly aware that Princess has some Asian cruises that are marketed towards Asians -- not a thing wrong with that but there will be cultural differences . Have not heard much on CC about how the blended cruises are working out.

We are in China most years in early Sept. And got suck in mainland last years as the typhoon hit HK. It just disrupted our plans on timing but once in HK boards were coming down and everything was back to normal.it is just a VERY busy time in Aug for locals to travel so every site is packed think triple the number that you would see in North America at a famous site.
