bingo games

It can get expensive :). Once upon a time the BINGO games on ships were about entertainment and an activity for passengers. We still remember being on cruises where nearly every penny gathered from inexpensive cards were returned in the form of cash payoffs. The cruise lines were not in it for a profit.

But now, it has become a major moneymaker for cruise lines who have now adopted a policy of "maximizing onboard revenue" as a major contributor to their bottom line. So BINGO cards are being sold at much higher prices ($20+ is not uncommon) and the cruise line skims off a major part of the card revenue before paying out cash prizes. So BINGO is now another casino-type activity designed to generate big profits for the ship, while paying out just enough to suck folks in for more.
