Your ship will dock in Fremantle which is the sea port for Perth. Fremantle is a pleasant town in its own right with an attractive marina, varied shopping opportunities, some historic buildings and free busses that run 2 routes around the town and the suburbs. The interchange is at the railway station which is near the cruise port....... a 5-10 minute walk. There is a sight seeing tram with a commentary that can be used on a HOHO basis too.

It is also possible to get the ferry along the Swan River to Perth. Again, the ferry terminal is quite close to the cruise dock. The ferry takes 75minutes and is an interesting ride through pretty scenery (Google Captain Cook Cruises -Perth) There is a HOHO bus that takes 2 hours to complete its circuit and gives a good overview of Perth. The bus stop is next to the ferry jetty. The bus will drop you off close to the railway station in Central Perth where trains to Fremantle run every 15 minutes. The trip takes approx 20 minutes and Fremantle station is close to the cruise dock.

It is easy to do any of these independently but just keep an eye on the time as Perth is approx 20 miles from the cruise terminal and trains can be crowded and road traffic can be slow moving in rush hour.

Thank you. This is the exact info I was hoping to receive. Thanks again.

We took a train into Perth, then used the free cat buses. We had an overnight in Fremantle, took the ship shuttle into town, had as bit of look round on our own before using one of the local tour buses.

Last year I enjoyed spending a day walking around Perth before heading to Fremantle - here's what I explored: http://www.travelingwiththejones.com/2013/02/26/a-walk-around-downtown-perth-australia/

The next day from the ship I took the Swan Valley Wine tour: http://www.travelingwiththejones.com/2013/02/28/swan-valley-wine-tour-from-fremantle-australia/
