RCCL vs Princess

Better depends on what you consider to be better.

Tell us more about what is important to you and even copy and paste each itinerary and if it is Alaska specific (eg., you are asking about the Alaska experience rather then the experience on board the ship) I would be asking this on the Alaska Ports of Call Board.

Before picking a ship and itinerary, do some research on what you want to see and experience. If you want to extend your vacation and your budget allows, Alaska is a great place to take a cruisetour with a land portion tacked on before or after the tour.

First you need to determine what you want to see - and Glacier Bay should be at the top of your list. Princess and HAL regularly offer cruises including Glacier Bay and I think you can find it included on some of the other lines' itineraries occasionally. Once you've identified an itinerary, check out the times in port. I've read complaints of some ridiculously short port times. Finally, check out enrichment activities - is there an on-board naturalist, do they bring on guest speakers in each port, etc.? We have always found that can add immensely to our enjoyment of a cruise.

We have cruised Vancouver to Whittier twice on the Coral Princess and just reserved a June 2018 Seattle roundtrip on the Ruby Princess so I can't compare the Princess Alaska product with the Royal Caribean Alaska product. We love the Coral Princess especially the fully mini-suite cabins with fully covered - important on an itinerary that can be rainy - balconies on Dolphin deck. We especially like the fact that Princess makes a great effort to provide an 'Alaska' experience. Check out http://www.princess.com/learn/cruise-destinations/alaska-cruises/onboard-experience/.
