Floridiana Posted October 13, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 13, 2014 (edited) Go to the roll call of your cruise. There are probably people already planning various excursions. We did this cruise expressively for the Mayan ruins in Guatemala (Tikal) and in Belize (Lamanai) and we booked the excursions through the ship. Tikal can only be done as a ship's excursion because you need to go via a chartered flight. It was worth it for us, so was Lamanai. Belize City is not a place to hang out. Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Costa Maya and Roatan, you can walk around and go to the beach. The Guatemalan port city is not a gem either, but some people stayed in port and shopped there. Lots of really nice handicrafts, especially made of cloth. Other passengers did excursions that were less expensive than going to Tikal. NMLady Posted October 14, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 14, 2014 You've gotten some good advice. Mine is to tell you that when you post a question, put something pertinent in the subject heading. Otherwise your screen name will be put there by default and many people won't read it.

Depending on what is offered as an excursion, you may have an opportunity to go to Copan in Honduras on a chartered flight. If you do, get a one Limpar note somewhere. It has a picture of Copan on the back.
Floridiana Posted October 14, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 14, 2014 Thanks Talisker92, Copan looks fantastic! I didn't even know about it because Honduras is not on my radar.

And after you know what you want to do in the ports, look into the private tours. Oceania's tours are way overpriced and you can do much better.
