Maya Key from Coxen Hole - Can you shuttle back and forth?

Hi Everyone! We're thinking about doing the Maya Key excursion and read that it is a five minute boat shuttle from where our NCL shop will be docked. I also read that shuttles leave every 30 minutes from the island. My question is, can you shuttle back and forth if you want? Like say we want to come back to the ship for lunch instead of eating there, could we go back to the ship for a bite and then head back over for a little bit since we'll be there from 8 am -4pm. Yes you will be able to shuttle back and forth if you are docked at the Coxen Hole port. The boat runs every 30 min.

You may want to consider lunch at Maya Key. It is included with your excursion and it's a really good island style lunch buffet. Salad, chicken, fish, rice/beans and some fried banana chips (YUM). :)

We were at Maya Key this past week. The last boat back to the pier was at 5:00pm. They may run them later at different times of the year when sunset isn't so early.

Welcome back and thanks Ron for the info, did you enjoy the snorkeling? How did the water quality seem? Did you notice any sea grass or debris here or Costa Maya? Planning on Blue Kay this time with family, any insight would be great

I can't speak for the barbecue chicken, but the fried sea bass is amazing! Very flavorful, but not at all spicy. They also have salad, and coconut rice with beans. No sure what your dining needs are, but their website says they offer a vegetarian menu with advance notice.

I cannot have anything spicy. I am allergic to seafood so that is out. If the chicken is anyway spicy, I wouldn't be able to have that either. Same with the rice and beans. I need to find out or else see what else i can do

Angel, neither my wife nor I remember the chicken or rice and beans being spicy. We also don't remember there being any other food there. One thing you may consider though, I do specifically remember them having the chicken and fish in separate serving pans but there's no telling if it was co-mingled before hand.

We will be there at Maya Key in February. Does the ferry still run back and forth every 30 minutes back to Coxen Hole?

I don't know if you can go back and forth. We stayed there until the next to last shuttle. We enjoyed it there. The buffet there was decent too

No, if you are coming in on a cruise you have to book through the cruiseline.

We did the Maya Key excursion 2 years ago and the food was not spicy at all. It was delicious though.

I made out fine with the food. I had the chicken and salad. I am allergic to seafood and the rice was too spicy for me but I just had extra salad
