Car rental in Victoria?

Recommended Posts

Cannot seem to find any car rental agencies that have pick-up/drop off at the cruise dock in Victoria. We really wanted to rent a car as we wanted to spend more time at Buchart than tours normally do, as well as see some other sights. Has anyone rented a car in Victoria? Any help would be appreciated!

Have you tried Enterprise in Victoria? We used them several years ago and it worked pretty well. There was a bit of a delay in the pickup process, partially due to us being a little slow on placing the initial call to be picked up. They also do what a lot of car rental places seem to do in port cities, only shuttle the driver back to the lot. All that being said, it worked out great to have a car to make the run out to Butchart Gardens and then explore the area after.

Hoping you have a fantastic cruise with great weather and good traveling companions!

I had not tried Enterprise. I will check them out - thanks!

We used Budget last month in Victoria. They are located behind the Empress Hotel. Although we walked from the ship there was a shuttle bus that drops near the Empress from the cruise dock for $10. The cost of the rental was less than $40.

Also it depends on what time you are arriving into Victoria. I worked at the downtown Budget location for 5 years and we closed at 6:00 pm. We serviced the cruise ships and local ferries if we could, as did several other agencies. However, many ships on Alaskan itineraries arrive for a few hours in the evening after closing hours. If this is the case for you, it won't work.

Putterdude kindly offered you the phone number for one agency; you can easily Google others and see if they service Ogden Point cruise ship pier. Also try Hertz, Avis, Thrifty, National.
