CarnivalSuperb Posted February 26, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2015 Hi, Has anyone an idea how the weather usually is on a Trans Atlantic? I'm thinking of doing the crossing from Barcelona to Ft.Lauderdale on The Allure at the end of October, and have no idea what the weather should be like?? Clarea Posted February 26, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2015 Hi, Has anyone an idea how the weather usually is on a Trans Atlantic? I'm thinking of doing the crossing from Barcelona to Ft.Lauderdale on The Allure at the end of October, and have no idea what the weather should be like?? For our TA from Barcelona, it was cool (50s-60s) and rained some days in Barcelona, and the first few days of the cruise. Once we left the Canaries, it was around 70 the rest of the way, and we could use the pool most days.
Bobal Posted February 26, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2015 We did the crossing on Liberty from Barcelona to FLL in October last year. Calm seas and lovely weather all the way over :)

peteukmcr Posted February 26, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 26, 2015 We did the same route on Liberty in 2011 and had relatively calm seas most of the way. A couple of squally days, but nothing major.
sddsddean Posted February 26, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 26, 2015 The North Atlantic is the most unpredictable of all the worlds oceans...you could get anything! However, the 'weather' usually tracks west to east (ie we get what the US and Canada had 5 days ago!), so unless there is a really big storm, the ship can usually take avoiding action. Having said that, when we did our TA 5 years ago in November, it was a little choppy in the Bay of Biscay (no surprise!), but more or less flat calm the rest of the way to Ft Lauderdale...but bear in mind you never know what Mother nature might throw at you! gingernm Posted February 26, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 26, 2015 From Barca you wont touch Bay of Biscay. We did Indy last November from UK. Weather was bad for first 3 days, pools were drained. Our cabin was at very front overlooking helipad, so we felt quite a bit of movement. But then the weather changed, we still had odd showers and some chop but each day it became increasingly warmer. That was our first TA, would I do it again... hell yes, even with the same weather. Rob.
MSunshine Posted February 26, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 26, 2015 We've done transatlantic out of Barcelona this past October and out of Malaga 2 years ago. Both had beautiful weather for the crossing. Once you are past the Canary Islands the sailing is much smoother and the weather is increasingly warmer. Don't forget the extra hours you get back for the time change:D

TravelerThom Posted February 27, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 27, 2015 I have done 5 or 6 Fall crossings from the Med to Florida (most recently in Nov 2014). Seas were pretty calm (never more than 2 meter waves), temperatures were mild, and other than a little rain the decks were packed. Anything north of the equator is "North Atlantic" but weather at Med to Florida latitudes is pretty predictably nice baring a hurricane. Even the Bay of Biscay is predictable - generally nasty. If you want unpredictable try the Southern Ocean off Antarctica. Tho
navybankerteacher Posted February 27, 2015 #11 Share Posted February 27, 2015 We've done several T/A's from the Med to Florida, sailing in very late October or early November. Once past Gibraltar, the temps were regularly in the 70's to 80 - some times a bit of rain, but usually goid weather.
