If you like to walk then about 20 minutes away by foot is Mary Brickell Village. There they have places to shop, and a lot of choice when it comes to restaurants. Bayside is less than a 10 minute walk from you for shopping too and while they have restaurants I really prefer the ones at Mary Brickell Village. One that we like is Perricones that is right near Mary Brickelll Village. There are also some restaurant close by to the hotel as well.

It's fun to check out South Beach. It will be around a $30.00 taxi ride each way from your location. The precise fare ranges based on route taken and traffic.

Dec 21 we are staying at JW Marriott Miami, finally using Marriott points. Any local restaurant suggestions? Anything else in the area, we might take taxi to South Beach.

Are you staying at the JW Marriott on Brickell Ave or the JW Marriott Marquis Miami? I believe that the JW Marriott Miami is the one that is located on Brickell Ave.

They are located in the same area but the one on Brickell will be less than a 5 minute walk to Mary Brickell Village.

Thanks for great info. We are staying at JW Marriott Miami on Brickell Ave. We usually buy soda for mixers to take on board ship. Are there any grocery/convenient stores near by?

Yes, there are plenty of places. A brand new CVS has just opened up right next door to you hotel. Go out the front door, turn left and there it is! There is also a 7-11 one block back to the water.

There are two Publix grocery stores that you can walk to with the closet being in Mary Brickell village. It's only a few block walk from the hotel, very easy.

We have reservations elsewhere, but are thinking of doing the same thing - i.e. booking here to use our MARRIOTT POINTS...
