Avoiding Spring Break Cruisings

Looking at cruising Bermuda for the first time next April (2018).

Unsure whether Bermuda is a popular destination for Spring Breakers in April, or maybe too expensive(?).

If it is popular with Spring Breakers/families in April, we would switch to early-mid September.

We are of the "senior" crowd. Those with Bermuda experience, enjoying the more quiet times of year in Bermuda, would love your advice.

The cooler times of the year temperature-wise are best for us.

I've never run into a significant number of obvious college spring breakers on a Bermuda cruise because the cruise season really starts after almost all college spring breaks are over. If you're concerned about families with children check when your cruise week falls versus Easter and Passover, which is when many public schools in the Northeast will have their spring holidays.

Right after Labor Day through mid to late September will likely have the fewest school-age children as well as the fewest college students.

April is much cooler than September, and April is definitely not beach season in Bermuda. Mean air temperature in April is 66.5 versus 79 in September. April mean sea water temperature is 67.8 versus 82.3 in September.

Bermuda cruises tend to be more expensive than Caribbean cruises and hotels in Bermuda can be expensive too, so price may deter some college spring breakers, as well as the relatively cool spring weather.

Thank you, NJH. We're not looking for ""beach" weather. Wanting to see the beauty of Bermuda that causes so many to visit.

We enjoy the cooler weather cruises these days, without the crowds. Probably going to book the 1st visit of the 2018 season.

Sailed to Bermuda in May 2015 from Boston on the HAL Veendam (smaller ship that can actually dock in downtown Hamilton which is centrally located near the main bus terminal and ferry docks instead of way up at one end of the island). There were a handful of kids aboard but very, very well behaved and we only saw them at meal times at the Lido deck. The weather was warm and we spent the better part of one day at the beach. The ship arrives on Monday at noon-ish and leaves Thursday at noon. It's basically your floating hotel at what I feel is a much more convenient dock on the island than out at the Dockyard. Hope you enjoy Bermuda....I loved it. (should add that any kids or spring-breakers (if there were any) were all part of a family group with the Grammies and Grampies, etc.... )

If you book Veendam or Summit early in the season there won't be many children or spring break types cruising on those two ships. If you book NCL or Royal Caribbean you might get more of that type of demographic. Breakaway in particular is going to draw families any time of the year. I was on Breakaway when school was in session and there were lots of kids and screaming pre school toddlers in the bars.....
