Galveston... Be careful out there

Recent news report of attack pre-cruise. This can happen anywhere & anytime, so just be aware of your surroundings.

Amen! I'd hate to see the crime reports from New Orleans, Miami, New York, Los Angeles, etc., etc.

Ditto this. Based on the photo, the victims weren't paying attention to their surroundings. That punk never would have gotten that close to my wife and I, and we have walked at night many times on the sometimes dark streets near the Strand. If he made that mistake, he would have been the one with the stitches. And I would have to repay my wife with a nice glass of wine for defending me. :D

This is not to put blame on the victims. But it's a good lesson for anyone who's going to be out and about at night on the streets.

Overall, I would consider the area around the Strand to be one of the safer places to be in a city at night, so I hope no one is unduly alarmed about spending time in Galveston.
