Casino Royale Booking Question(s)

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I figured you master cruisers could answer some questions for me about the Casino Royale program with regards to booking future sailings.

I know casino rate is based on your last cruise, what I was wondering was is there a limit to how many future cruises you can book under that rate? For example could we book a 2018 and 2019 cruise under our current casino rate?

For multiple bookings, you only get a certificate credit for the one booking right not multiple bookings? For example, we have booked our 2018 cruise with a $600 discount (per person) based on play from our 2017 cruise, if we also booked at 2019 cruise would wouldn't get another $600 off correct? We would need to complete another cruise to get another set of discounts for 2019, right?

Also, if we booked a 2019 cruise under our current casino rate and then earned a better rate based on play on our 2018 cruise could we get that better rate applied to the 2019 cruise we already booked?

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions, and I really appreciate the assistance. I know you've all got a lot more experience with this system than we do so it's great to be able to lean on your experience :)

You should get the casino rate on the second booking, but the certificate only once. If you earn another certificate on the first cruise you booked with the casino rate, you should be able to apply it to the second booking.

To my understanding you can only use the certificate once, however the casino rates you can get on multiple bookings. Also I had 3 cruises booked with the casino rate and after the first cruise I was able to adjust my casino slots discount to the higher discount based on my play on the last cruise. Basically there are 3 savings from casino royale 1) certificates earned 2) casino rate for being a member and 3) discount based on your play.

So the casino rate and discount based on play can be used on multiple cruises, but the certificate only on one? Do you recommend using the certificate on the closest booked trip? Can the certificate be used with a casino rate or to upgrade from a free inside room for 2 offer to a junior suite for 3? I just got off the ship today and received my first certificate. Called Club Royale to ask these questions, but they were already closed. Thanks for your help!

You can't book casino rates for cruises that are over 18 months out. I wanted to book Spring Break 2019 and was told I'd have to book at going rate then call back 18 months before the sail date to see what the casino rate is.

At this point you won't get casino rates for any 2019 cruises.

Also play based discounts have to be applied to a cruise that is within 18 months of the date of the cruise the play based discount was earned on.

sorry to hijack this thread, can you earn these discounted cruises or certificates by playing table games like craps/roulette and how does anyone have any idea what it takes to make their list?

1500 points qualifies you for next cruise cabin at casino rate. On the next cruise you need 1000 points to retain status. This is for discounted cabins.

Every 400 points = $100 certificate off next cruise.

2400 points = free inside select sailings or $500 trade in value

3600 points = ocean view or $750 trade in

4800 points = balcony or $1000 trade in

1 point = $5 slots

Or $10 I believe video poker.

Tables no idea how they do points. DH had similar play to me but almost double the table points. I stick to slots, at least it's self trackable!

and when you say 400 points qualified you for your next cruise, what does that mean?

If you get 400 points then you get $100 certificate you can use on next cruise but you wouldn't get the cabin at casino rates, just the $100 off.

For cabin at casino pricing you need 1500 points.

Each point is $5 in spins. You put your sea pass card in and for every $5 in spins you'll see it go up. It's not win or loss for points, however once you get over 2400 points they do play based rebate based on play (win/loss time spent in casino etc) so we find the play based to be better than the trade in value. Ymmv!

I got a $100 certificate on the Rhapsody. When I called to redeem it on a future cruise she put me on hold for a minute then told me about the casino rate. I saved a few hundred bucks.

I just got off the Freedom this morning and got a $500 certificate that don't think I'll be able to use.

I have received 5 certificates on 5 cruises, ranging from $200 to a free inside cabin for 2400 points. When I went to use them, I was told they weren't combinable with casino rates. I was able to combine them with the C & A balcony discount. You also can't combine them with the onboard booking bonus OBC.

Thanks! Does anyone know how the table games work with this?

I don't play the tables but others were told that you have to ask the dealer to track your play. But how do they do it? I have no clue.

You can use the casino rate on multiple bookings, the discount based on play and any certificates can only be used once.

In our case our discount based on play was better than our certificate offer, also the certificate offer has a shorter life so if you intend to use both I would suggest using the certificate first since it's more restrictive both in terms and time limits.

When we called in to use our certificates we earned on the ship for our latest cruise the offer was combined with our casino rate. You just can't combine multiple certificates for 1 person or use a certificate and your play based discount.

If you want to use the certificate, but don't want the free inside room for two then it will just be a monetary discount on whatever room you want. Our certificates listed what their monetary value was if we didn't use it on one of the listed cruises which was $500. That means if we booked either a cruise on the list or another cruise that fell in the time frame but with an upgraded room then the certificate would have just taken $500 off.

I hope that helps until you can actually talk to RCI about your plans :)

Not sure when you went on Rhapsody.

When the revamped program first rolled out any certificate got you the casino rate but they had so many complaints from bigger spenders that people spending a fraction or what they were spending were getting the same discounts on cabins they recently changed this to the higher point minimum to get the casino rates. I also understand the % discount varies now based on higher play.

I was told 5 different times, over the last year when I went to use one of my certificate that it wasn't combinable with the casino rate. On one call they even told me it wasn't combinable with the C & A balcony discount, but when I called back it was no problem using it with the C & A rate. Same as when you call Royal, every time you call CR you get a different answer.

You also only have 30 days to use a certificate for a cruise, that has to be taken within the next 12 months. (Although I recently heard it's 18 months)

We have been able to use certificates or play based with casino rates. Have yet to be allowed the balcony discount. Try to get through to Eric or Ron. They understand the program. There are a couple of newer people that I've spoken to lately that have left me with little faith that they know what they are talking about.

Also I was told the certificate was only valid for 12 months, but play based is valid for 18 months. Hope that helps.

I did hear that the program recently changed. I was on the Rhapsody 2 months ago and was able to get the casino rate for an upcoming June cruise.

My understanding is if you previously cruised and qualified for casino rate if you get 1000 points you re qualify for casino rates. If not previously qualified you now need 1500 points to qualify. We sailed last month and were told we were the second cruise that it applied to. That would mean rules changed start of March roughly.

It's a shame they can't release a definitive new program like Celebrity have that clearly states points needed and benefits you can obtain for each level.

If only I could get DH and DD to jump ship!

I received the casino rate for my upgrade on a free cruise I did not use the certificate I used my certificate on my booking for next year not my bookings for this year on my Mediterranean cruise.

It depends on when you called.

They keep changing the rules for solo players who are eligible for the 150 per cent C&A solo occupancy discount.

As of December, they stopped allowing the 150 percent solo rate to be used against casino rates, you had to book with C&A rates and they allowed certificates against the C&A rates.

Then they changed it again and disallowed certificates against C&A rates, and since the casino rate was more expensive than the C&A discount (for solos) and they would only allow the certificate to be used against the casino rate, not the C&A discount - the certificates became worthless.

They changed the rules again this month to once again allow certificates to be used against C&A bookings with the 150% solo occupancy rate.

I'm sure they will change the rules again, but it wouldn't hurt to call them and talk to them. Different agents always give different answers on solo bookings.

When I called 2 weeks ago to use my last certificate, I was told that in most cases the C & A rates are better for solos. I also asked about the 150% (I'll be entitled to it by the end of the year) they said it was just changed to allow it. I hope that's one they don't change.

It was changed, according to CR on April 7. Btw I will be on the Anthem with you, I am a friend of Linda's - I'm doing a b2b leaving Saturday and plan to call them before I leave to make sure there are no other changes - I've gone through every change they made quite painfully. My certificates become worthless if certificates can't be applied against C&A. I do get the 150 %. Casino rates are not geared for singles.

I have always received the casino rate + a reduction equal to the value of the certificate. What has changed, from my experience, is that if you choose to apply the value of a certificate to an already-existing [casino rate] booking, they will reprice the cruise at the current rate. In the past, I was able to simply apply the value of a certificate to the balance remaining on an already booked cruise. They no longer allow that....you can apply the certificate but they reprice the cruise so it is often not profitable to do that. I have been forced to book a new cruise in order to use the certificate but I have always been able to combine both the casino rate and the certificate value - at least, I have in the past. Maybe it's changed again ! It's sad to say but it really does depend on who you get on the other end of the phone.
