Best location on departure

Hi was wondering what is the best spot to be when leaving New York on the breakaway with the best views. Would love a spot that isnt as congested as the main area. Any hidden locations. Thanks so much

Hard to avoid crowds.

We are usually on the forward deck 17 with views straight ahead or deck 16 mid-ship moving from the port side for manhattan and to the starboard side for the statue of liberty. But there are a lot of people there.

The bufftet facing aft will have views of manhattan and the SOL after you pass them. Not the best view, but you can see it all.

We usually do sail away on our balcony....Manhatten leaving, and the statue of Liberty coming home. Not a fan of the crowds for that event.

There will be folks all around.

If you really want to see both sides and lots - be topside.

Cabin is quiet, but you only see one side.

Do not do early dinner. You want to experience leaving NY harbor.

Find a New Yorker who wil be proud to point out what you are looking at as you leave port. On our last trip a couple was sitting on the chairs next to us trying to guess what they were seeing. We were happy to identify buildings, bridges and boroughs to them. Talked about the pilot boat and how it would depart with the harbor pilot at Sandy Hook NJ. They were happy to hear the local history and it gave us a tourists feel for sailing from NYC. We always took it for granted. So ... just ask someone if they know what that building is. If you find someone who answers and then keeps on talking you've probably found a proud NYC New Yorker who will be your tour guide out of the harbor.
