Rome to Civitavecchia

If you have plenty of time take the Leonardo Express from the Airport into Roma Termini (half hourly departures). Change trains at Termini for Civitavecchia , half hourly departures .

Trains from Roma Termini , some proceed further up the coast to Pisa, La Spezia and even Genova and Milano . Others terminate at Civitavecchia, these are the best trains to catch as seat reservations are not required , and also they usually terminate at Civitavecchia on the street side platform avoiding the dreaded "sottopassagio" !

Romecabs are wonderful. Found them through here on Cruise Critic and they are really used to bringing/picking up cruisers from Civi. Also Airport to Hotel and visa versa.

Another tip is to share their vans to and from Port with other cruisers from your roll call. It is really easy to organise and makes it very economical. Around 30euro per person.
